The Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at , 16100 W. 127th St. Board members will hear presentations from two education executive search firms, as well as the Illinois Association of School Boards.

3. Paper Reflections at the Lemont Library

Eighth-graders from Old Quarry Middle School will showcase traditional Japanese prints during an open house Tuesday at the Lemont Public Library, 50 E. Wend St. From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the prints will be on display and for sake at the Athens Gallery in the library. All proceeds go to the Lemont Open Food Pantry.

4. Veterans Drive

The Lemont Public Library is partnering with the Women's Auxiliary of the and the Rotary Club of Lemont-Homer Glen to collect and distribute items requested by veterans at Hines Hospital and Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

These organizations are in need of cleaning supplies, paper products, linens, gift cards and office supplies. Details are included in these wish lists: Hines VA Hospital Wish List and Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans Wish List.

Donations may be brought to the Circulation Desk during regular library hours from Oct. 1 through Nov. 11. For each donation, you will receive on coupon for a free DVD rental or $1 off fines (up to a maximum $10 per account).

5. Lemont Tea Party No Longer Endorsing Radogno, Durkin

The Lemont Tea Party announced last week that it would no longer endorse Illinois Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno (R-Lemont) or Asst. House Republican Leader Jim Durkin. The party cited "poor voting records" of both officials.
