Nov. 10: Veterans Day Commemoration, Mitten Drive

2. District 210 Workshop

The Lemont High School District 210 Board of Education will hold a workshop meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday night to discuss the district's financial plan. The meeting will be held in the district board room at , 800 Porter St.

3. Lemont Libary's Veterans Day Commemoration

When: 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10
Where: , 50 E. Wend St.
What: U.S. Army Capt. Patricia Kennedy will be the featured speaker for this year's Veterans Day commemoration at the Lemont Public Library. Kennedy flew in Korea and in the Persian Gulf, for which she was awarded the Combat Air Medal and the Bronze Star for Valor. Local Boy Scout Troop 149 will also participate in the program. Refreshments will be served.

4. Park District Rewards Program

The Lemont Park District is offering a new rewards program for members of the , 16050 W. 127th St. Members will now receive special fitness program discounts, premium prices for guest passes and a refer-a-friend bonus. For more information, call 630-257-6787 or visit www.lemontparkdistrict.org.

5. Mitten Drive

Lemont Girl Scout Troop 70259 is holding a mitten drive to benefit Lemont families in need and the "My Joyful Heart" organization in Mokena. The troop is collecting new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves. Donations can be dropped off at any of the following locations:

  • , 50 E. Wend St.
  • , 1100 State St.
  • , 16050 W. 127th St.

Was there ever a time when a full day was offered Jennifer? I was in kindergarten at Oakwood aboutRead More 28 years ago and even then it was half day. If you want full day Kate, St Pats/St Al's, St Cyril's, and I'm sure others are full day.

Full-day kindergarTen has a lot of fillers too: they eatRead More lunch, go outside, go to the bathroom, etc. I don't think our public schools allow snacks in the classroom anyway. Any teacher would know that learning starts at home, and a teacher would know how to supplement a kindergarten curriculum.
