2. Lemont Chamber's Business After Hours

The Lemont Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting its monthly Business After Hours social event Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Alvernia Manor, 13950 Main St.

Business After Hours is a combined event with the Homer Glen and Orland Park Chambers.

3. Historical Society Hosts Civil War Program

The , 306 Lemont St., is hosting a special program at 7 p.m. Friday to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War at the Old Stone Church, Lemont's Civil War recruiting depot. Special guests will be General Ulysses S. Grant and Civil War re-enactors. There is also a new Civil War exhibit on display in the museum. For more information call 630-257-2972.

4. Public Works Week

During the Lemont Village Board meeting Monday night, Mayor Brian Reaves declared May 15-21 as Public Works Week in the village. He urges the community to express their appreciation to the employees of the Public Works Department in recognition of their contribution to their "health, safety, comfort and quality of life."
