Lemont Cub Scouts Hold Moment of Silence for Lockport Boy Killed in Camping Accident

Nine-year-old Aiden DiTola, a member of Cub Scout Pack 61 in Lockport, died Sunday after falling 15 feet down a ravine in Kankakee County.

Before celebrating its 50th anniversary Monday night, Cub Scout Pack 149 held a moment of silence for a 9-year-old Lockport boy who died Sunday after falling down a ravine during a camping trip.

Aiden DiTola, a member of Cub Scout Pack 61 in Lockport, fell about 15 feet and struck his head on a rock as he fell to the bottom of a ravine near the Indian Caves area of Perry Farm in Bradley, according to a Sun-Times Media report.

He was airlifted to Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

On Monday, Lemont Cub Scout Pack 149 held its 50th anniversary ceremony at the Lockport American Legion Post 18. Nearby, a memorial was held for DiTola, according to Mike Villwock, Cubmaster of Pack 149.

Villwock asked the boys and their families to observe a moment of silence for their fellow scout.

Perry Farms is a 170-acre recreation area in the Bourbonnais Township Park District, according to park district website.
