Keepataw Days Entertainment Announced, Goodwill Plans Grand Opening: Weekly Wrap-Up

Monday, Aug. 13

The Indians will kick off their season Aug. 24 against Little Village.

The District 113A middle school has made some slight changes to its dress code for the 2012-13 school year.

For the second year in a row, women battling eating disorders, substance abuse and mood disorders have put their art therapy on display in "Honesty," a free exhibit at the Lemont Center for the Arts.

Tuesday, Aug. 14

Performing during Lemont's annual Labor Day festival are Infinity, Five Guys Named Moe, Legendary Rockstars, Lounge Puppets, Blackened, Gina Glocksen and Andrea Veltri.

The school board will meet with a representative from the Illinois Association of School Boards during closed session Tuesday night.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

A former student, whose name has not been released, died suddenly Tuesday morning, according to District 210 officials.

The auction will be held Aug. 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Lemont Township Community Center, 16300 Alba St.

Thursday, Aug. 16

The retail and donation center will celebrate its grand opening weekend Friday, Aug. 24, through Sunday, Aug. 26, at 1146 State St.

The Lemont-based nonprofit Abide in Me has organized "Celebrate Me Home" so 21-year-old Jamee Fiedler and other women can live independently through Garden Center Services.

The church's "Help a Teacher, Help a Child" initiative will run through Aug. 26.

The organization will kick off the new service year with an ice cream social on Monday, Aug. 27.

Friday, Aug. 17

Friday marks my final day in Lemont, and I couldn't leave without thanking our amazing readers.

The magazine's September 2012 issue highlights 133 top elementary and high schools in the Chicago area.

Mosquitoes have been found with West Nile virus in 68 different pools around the area, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.
