Residents of , 1270 Village Drive, will host a Holiday Housewalk from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. RSVP at 630-243-3479.

3. Winter Library Read-In

The , 50 E. Wend St., is hosting a Library Read-In from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Participants should stop by the library in the weeks before for a pledge sheet to gather donations for their reading to go towards the American Red Cross. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served. 4. Help Bolingbrook Win Patch Holiday Contest

A  couple is one of 24 finalists for Patch's nationwide Deck the House contest. If they win—and their success depends the number of votes they get—the village's public schools will be in line for a $100,000 prize!

Patch.com launched the nationwide contest to find the best dressed home in its Patch communities on Dec. 8.

Each finalist has already secured $500 that they can apply to their December electric bill. The Grand Prize Winner will be determined by your votes, and the public schools in the winner's town will receive $100,000.

Unfortunately, didn't have any finalists in the contest, but that doesn't mean we can't show our support to Bolingbrook, which is the only finalist from Illinois.

So vote once a day, every day though Jan. 8 for your favorite entry. And be sure to spread the word around town so Bolingbrook students can have an awesome present waiting for them when the return to school in the new year!

5. New Year, New You

The is offering a "New Year, New You" special for people who join the , 16050 W. 127th St. Throughout the month of January, there will be no enrollment fee to sign up for the CORE.

The first 100 members to join will receive a voucher for a free haircut to Jeffrey LaMorte Salon and Day Spa. The next 200 members will receive a coupon for 20-percent off one haircut or 20-percent off one pedicure.
