Feb. 21-25: Intergovernmental Meeting, Blood Drive, Indoor Triathlon

Five things every Lemonter needs to know this week.

1. Blood Drive at Lemont Library

The , 50 E. Wend St., is partnering with Heartland Blood Centers for a community blood drive Wednesday. Heartland will have a trailer in the library parking lot from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

To be a blood donor, individuals must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental permission; weigh at least 110 pounds; be symptom-free of cold, flu or allergies; and be in general good health.

2. Intergovernmental Meeting

The will host an of all Lemont taxing districts at 7 p.m. Thursday at Village Hall, 418 Main St. According to a release, the purpose of the meeting is to "present progress reports and discuss issues of mutual concern." Representatives will be present from the Village of Lemont, Lemont Township, Lemont Park District, Lemont Fire Protection District, Lemont Public Library, Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A and Lemont High School District 210.

3. Chamber of Commerce Hosts 'Mardi Gras Madness'

The is hosting its annual dinner dance Friday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at , 1 Pete Dye Drive. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Chamber Scholarship Fund. To purchase tickets ($50/person or $450/table of 10), visit www.lemontchamber.com.

4. CORE Indoor Triathlon

The is hosting an indoor triathlon at the , 16050 127th St., at 7 a.m. Saturday. Athletes will swim for 10 minutes, bike for 10 minutes and run for 15 minutes. Performance is measured by distance covered in each event. For more information, call 630-257-6787.

5. Relay for Life Looking for More Participants

With about 130 days left until the Relay for Life of Lemont/Homer Glen (scheduled for July 8-9 at the Lemont High School Sports Complex), you still have plenty of time to sign up or volunteer. For more information, check out on volunteers' efforts thus far or visit the event's official website.

Relay for Life of Lemont/Homer Glen will host a kick-off event at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, at Illinois Bar and Grill, 1131 State St.
