2. Heritage Quarries Clean Up/Green Up

The Lemont Heritage Committee is hosting a clean-up day at the Heritage Quarries on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Volunteers should arrive at the Heritage Quarries Pavilion at 8 a.m., and should wear long sleeves, long pants and gloves. 3. Recycling Day

As part of Earth Week 2011, the Lemont Environmental Advisory Commission is hosting a Recycling Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the , 101 Main St. Volunteers will be collecting used motor oil, electronics, latex paint, bicycles, prescription medications, scrap metal, ink toner, cell phones, light bulbs, batteries and documents. Visitors are also encouraged to bring non-perishable donations for the Lemont Food Pantries. For more information, call 630-257-1590 or visit http://lemont.il.us.

4. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

During the Lemont Village Board meeting Monday night, Mayor Brian Reaves declared April 10-16 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in honor of the men and women of the Southwest Central Dispatch. "Public safety telecommunicators are the single vital link for our police officers, firefighters and paramedics by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them information and ensuring their safety," the proclamation read.

5. Create Recycled Art for a Chance to Win Great America Tickets

In honor of Earth Day later this month, Lemont Patch and Woodridge Patch are holding a. Editors Amanda Luevano and Melissa Tussing will judge creativity, use of recycled materials and overall quality to determine the winner of two tickets to Six Flags Great America. All entries must be received by April 22.
