Yerbabuena in Lisle: Bites Nearby

Traditional Mexican fare with a few twists.

is an independently owned family Mexican restaurant that won Suburban Focus’ Best of the Suburbs 2011 in its category.

Located in the heart of downtown Lisle at 4732 Main St., this colorful, casual and quaint location offers traditional Mexican dishes as well as creative specials created by Chef Miguel, who occasionally dashes out to visit patrons.

Sangria and margaritas are staples at any Mexican restaurant, as they are here—the margaritas in particular have received rave reviews, and individual as well as half- and full-pitcher sizes are available.

Customers receive complimentary salsa and warm chips at the table. Guacamole is prepared table-side, so it couldn’t be any fresher.

Traditional entrees such as burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas and tacos are all served with rice and beans, and Miguel’s specials offer tempting deviations from the norm.

For something different, there’s marinated steak with mango over rice, pork tacos with pineapple, mashed potato enchiladas, chicken mango paella and chicken fajitas with mango.

If you’re in the mood for fish, try the tilapia tacos with pico de gallo and guacamole, ceviche and mango tilapia.

Most entrees are in the medium price range. Dinner entrees are about $10 - $19.

Yerbabuena is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

Indoor seating is cozy, but if the weather permits, outdoor seating along charming Main Street is enjoyable too.
