Spotlight Shines on 'Pollyanna Brewing Company' in Video Teaser

The brewery is set to open in July, but until them, how about a little preview?

Craft beer fans eagerly awaiting the unveiling of Lemont's very own Pollyanna Brewery Company can get a little taste of what's to come.

In a video directed by independent blogger Miranda Innaimo, Lemont residents get a sneak peek inside the facility at 431 Talcott Avenue, along with some input from the men behind the brews.

"People are really proud to live in Lemont," said one of the owners Brian Pawola, in the video. "We're hoping we can make people just as proud of this brewery, as they are to live here."

Owners Pawola Ed Malner, Paul and Don Ciciora, and Ryan Weidner plan to open their little slice of local optimism Fourth of July weekend, they revealed in the video.

The group derived the name from a blond-haired, blue-eyed, ever-chipper movie character "Pollyanna"—who was known to be "cheerfully and irrepressibly optimistic."

It might be said they've taken on the same philosophy, also quoting F. Scott Fitzgerald's, "the business of optimism is no mean task." The group is going big with the brewery.

The location will have the initial capacity to brew 3,000 barrels of beer (1 U.S. barrel equals 31.5 gallons: so that's 94,500 gallons). The taproom is located on a mezzanine that has an open view of the brewery below. The space comfortably seats 45 people indoors, with room for 55 more outside along the canal. They'll offer tasting flights, half pints, pints, and 64-ounce growlers to-go as well as free tours.

""We're trying to build a brand around here," Pawola said in the video. "The romantic elements of craft beer, the tasteful flavors, the very aromatic beers we're trying to present, and Pollyanna kind of fits that theme."
