Shop Local at Lemont Holiday Events

Still need to find gifts for friends and family? "Shop 'Til You Drop" and "Midnight Madness" will feature plenty of local vendors this weekend.

With the holidays right around the corner, several Lemont businesses and organizations are encouraging residents to "shop local" at special events this week.

The is hosting its annual "Shop 'Til You Drop" event Thursday at the , 16050 W. 127th St. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the gym will be packed with more than 20 vendors offering everything from home goods to jewelry.

Confirmed vendors include Tupperware, Premier Designs Jewelry, Tastefully Simple, Longaberger, Scentsy Candles, Mary Kay, Jockey, Party Lite, Covered in Chocolate and Votre Vu.

On Friday, residents are invited to take advantage of the village's annual in downtown Lemont, where  participating merchants will hold extended shopping hours from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Participating shops include , 114 Stephen St., and the Rummage Inn, 238 Main St. Vendors will be set up at the , 108 Stephen St.

The Choir will perform at 7 p.m.

Volunteers at the , 319 Front St., will be available to wrap presents.

Lemont United Methodist Church, 25 W Custer St., is hosting an from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. The event will feature jewelry, watches, purses, shawls, belts, wallets and other accessories.

Everything is priced at $6, making for great stocking stuffers this holiday season.

On Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Lithuanian World Center 14911 E 127th St., is hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar. The event will feature a variety of hand-made crafts, amber and various jewelry, books, CDs, wood works, paintings and more.

Ethnic food and refreshments will also be available. For morning information, call 630-257-8787.

Shopping events continue Sunday at The Learning Experience, 15424 W. 127th St., with their first .

The community is invited to shop from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Vendors include Avon, Tastefully Simple, Scentsy Candles, Mary Kay, , Juice Plus, , Premier Designs Jewelry, Stoetzel's Planet Chiropractic, and .

The event also offers free childcare for shoppers.
