New Website Helps Brides Plan Lemont Weddings

LemontBride.com to sponsor upcoming Wedding Walk.

With more than a dozen churches, five banquet halls and a large assortment of salons, boutiques and florists, Lemont has the potential to become what Rachel Owen calls “a wedding mecca town.”

Owen, a professional wedding photographer and co-owner of ImageIcon Photography, is the creator of a new website called Lemontbride.com, which launched this May.

She set up the website with hopes that it would become a helpful resource for brides looking to utilize businesses in the village for their wedding day.

“Lemont, the downtown area, has so many businesses and a lot of them have to do with weddings, or can have to do with weddings,” Owen said.  “I just think people don’t know about Lemont. I would love to put Lemont more on the map because it’s such a great little town.”

Although the website is still being worked on, Owen, who grew up in the village and also was married only a year ago, said she plans to create more detailed pages for each business that is associated with weddings in Lemont.

“Now it’s just a bunch of links but we’re hoping to get more informational things and pictures,” she said, adding that eventually she would like to expand it to have features such as advice columns.

Another function of Lemontbride.com is that it will be sponsoring events such as the village’s first Wedding Walk on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Lemont.

Owen said the Bridal Walk will be “like a bridal expo, except instead of being in a convention center, where they [the brides] walk to the different booths, they’re going to walk to the different storefronts.”

Vendors include Petal Play Design, Spin Productions, Weddings By Denise and Exotic Coach. Many will be offering specials and discounts for brides that come out that day. Several gift cards, including $100 to Victoria's Secret, will be raffled off.

Booths will be located on Main, Canal and Stephen streets, as well as Talcott Avenue.

“We’ve got florists, DJs, limousines, photography, dresses, makeup,” Owen said. “Everything you could need for your wedding day is down there.”

Owen said she is expecting about 50 brides to come to the event and reminded people who are thinking about coming that a low attendance will mean better chances at winning one of the raffle prizes that will be available.

“Mostly it’s to drive visitors back to Lemont because we have so many wedding vendors and things you can use for your wedding in this small town,” she said about the website and the upcoming Wedding Walk. “I just think people don’t know about Lemont. I would love to put Lemont more on the map because it’s such a great little town.”

Depending on how successful the first Wedding Walk is, Owen said she would like to host another one in late fall.
