Local Woman Dressing Up Lemont with New Bridal Shop

Martellen's Dress & Bridal Boutique, 220 Main St., has opened up in the former home of All About the Dress.

These days, Lemont businesswoman Mary Ellen Troc is swapping her computer and file folders for tulle and satin.

A legal assistant working in Chicago for the past 30 years, when Troc’s company was undergoing a transition, she decided she also needed a change.

“I decided I wanted to do something else instead of sitting behind a desk typing something,” she said.

Recently she opened up Martellen's Dress & Bridal Boutique, 220 Main St., in the former home of .

“I’ve always loved retail and fashion,” Troc said. “I think I have a good eye for it. And I love to dress people up.”

Her husband, Marty, is helping with the company’s books. The duo, who have been married just over a year, have six kids between them.

“They’re all right around marriage age so they’ve told us what they like, and we’re trying to find what appeals to the new generation of kids getting married and the younger mothers of the brides,” Troc said.

At Martellen's Dress & Bridal Boutique, patrons will find gowns from brands such as Casablanca, Maggie Sottero and Essense of Australia; mothers dresses from Cameron Blake, Montage by Mon Cheri, VM Collections and Alyce; and prom and homecoming dresses from Tony Bowls, Alyce, Party Time and Bari Jay.

And customer satisfaction is important to Troc.

“We’ll offer fair prices,” she said. “We want our customers to be happy.”

The shop’s name is the brainchild of Troc’s sister, who combined Mary Ellen and Marty’s names.

“When we started dating my sister came up with that name for us,” Troc said. “We didn’t have a name for the shop so we decided to call it that.”

Troc is glad to have opened a business in Lemont.

“The town is quaint and cute,” she said. “I really enjoy that.”

Another perk?

“ is nearby,” she said. “I love La Dolce Vita.”
