will reopen Friday after being closed for the winter season.

The ice cream and coffee shop, located at 400 E. Illinois St. in downtown Lemont, will open at 6:30 a.m. — just in time for the morning commute.

According to Muffins' Facebook page, the shop will open earlier this year so customers have time to stop in for coffee and muffins before work. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Muffins, , boasts a large variety of beverages and sweets, including homemade ice cream, frozen yogurt, cupcakes, coffee, tea and—as you might expect—muffins.

The shop proudly serves Plush Horse Ice Cream, an area favorite of Palos Park since 1937.

The muffins are from Costco and icecream from the plush horse. How is that original. It like a garage sale for food.

Wow, that was awesome. The ice cream from Plush Horse is really good and I'm happy Plush Horse Ice Cream is so close to me now. The fact that they advertise where it came from certainly does not put this establishment in the category of "garage sale", but hey, that's just my opinion. I've never tried a muffin so I cannot comment on that matter.

I happen to think that having ice cream from Plush Horse is really great. I'm not sure if you realize the scope of what it takes for a place to make their own ice cream and bake their own goods, but I don't see why there's any problem with a store sourcing it's goods for sale out to other well-known establishments. I'm grateful that Muffins is in town and plenty of others are too. Do you complain when a bar gets its beer from Miller? How about Burger King getting its coffee from Seattle's Best? Or do you expect every bar to brew its own beer and Burger King to grow and roast their own coffee beans. Your slam is foolish and apparently so are you. Have fun frequenting garage sales for sustenance, because you're apparently an expert on the kind of fare served at such events (not that I have a problem with garage sales though either). To Muffins: Look forward to the grand opening! Good luck this season! Good call on opening early for us coffee drinkers!

Taking the 6:40am train, I don't see enough time to stop in for coffee and muffin/bagel (etc) before my train. I wish they opened up a little bit earlier.
