A recent article regarding the improvements being made in Lemont by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District spoke of thousands of jobs created by the project. Yet I have seen to further information about those jobs. It also said that it would lead to 8,000 permanent area jobs, and again, no further details. In a flagging economy, news like this should be explosive, yet this has had the impact of a smoke bomb. This is especially true in Lemont where the village is desperately attempting to ram a sportsplex down the throats of taxpayers without their approval in hopes that it will resurrect the fortunes of a failing downtown. I would hope the Patch or some of its intrepid readers could dig into the story and provide more information.
