Limestone Brewing Company: Bites Nearby

Craft beers, live music and a fun atmosphere await patrons in this Plainfield establishment.

To look at Limestone Brewing Company from the street, you might be tempted to pass it by until you notice the full parking lot and ask yourself why there are so many cars.

It’s located at the end of a strip mall, and although it has a few interesting architectural details on the outside, it’s what awaits inside that will impress you.

The décor at Limestone comprises the best features of an urban loft, with exposed ductwork, a two-story ceiling, stone and track lighting. But it also has the ambiance of a pub, with a fireplace, arched windows, an impressive four-sided bar and a dark, warm color scheme.

Those last three words also describe the appearance of the best feature offered at Limestone—the beer. With nine regular varieties and seasonal brews too, there is something for everyone.

Those looking for something rich can enjoy the Dolomite Oatmeal Stout, named for the Plainfield farm soil.

And if a lighter brew is your style? Well then, maybe the Electric Park Golden Ale will spark your taste buds.

The Wheatlander is a surprisingly delicious Hefeweizen known to win over patrons who swore they’d never enjoy a cloudy beer.

And the winner for the beer with the highest alcohol content goes to the Flying Pig Imperial IPA, rating an 8.67 percent ABV (alcohol by volume).

The menu has much to offer, with many traditional items such as fish and chips, chicken wraps, burgers, salads, steaks and pasta.

There are a few surprise items included on the menu that are both interesting and delicious, like the beer cheese soup or an Oatmeal Stout ice cream float.

And last but not least, Limestone features live bands on weekends and many weekdays too (check the schedule), including Spoken Four, Jack and Jill and Libido Funk Circus.
