Lemont Welcomes Aurora Rose, A Unique Boutique

Gift shop, which opened last week on Stephen Street, offers items from more than 30 crafters and independent vendors.

Kim Peters opened Aurora Rose, A Unique Boutique, just a week ago – but her shop is already brimming with delightful gift items, just in time for the holiday season.

Peters and her daughter, Amber, closed their store in Willow Springs on Nov. 16 – and with the help of family and friends, the pair made a seamless transition to their new location at 111 Stephen Street.

“It was a crazy time – but we wanted to be open for this weekend,” Peters said, referring to Saturday’s Hometown Holiday event in downtown Lemont.

Peters said she “just loves Lemont” and its historic hometown feel. And she praised village officials for speeding along inspections so she could move into the downtown building on time and with ease.

Aurora Rose features the creations of 32 small businesses – all but one from Illinois – who sell their wares from rented space in the shop.

And because the shop is filled with items from so many different vendors, Aurora Rose offers a wide variety of gift ideas – from fragrant soaps and lotion bars to homemade apple butter, handmade scarves, whimsical dolls and more.

Peters said she looks forward to meeting new customers over the coming weeks and introducing them to the array of unique products Aurora Rose has to offer.

“We are really excited to be in Lemont,” she said. “I really love it here.”

Peters said Aurora Rose will be open Saturday during the Hometown Holiday celebration from 11 a.m. until about 7:30 p.m. And on Friday, Dec. 7, the shop will be open from 2 p.m. until midnight during downtown Lemont's Midnight Madness event.

The store's regular hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
