Critter Cleaners Moving from Downtown Lemont to State Street

The pet grooming business is moving to the Chipain's plaza to accommodate a new feed store.

will close its doors in downtown Lemont this month to move to a new location on State Street.

The pet grooming business, currently located at 170 Lemont St., will open Feb. 1 at 1120 State St., owner Kim Walter said. The new location is next to CarQuest in the Chipain's shopping plaza.

Walter said she is expanding Critter Cleaners to include a feed store, which will cater to dogs, cats, ferrets, chinchillas, gerbils, hamsters and reptiles.

She made the decision to move to State Street after realizing she would need more parking spaces.

"There isn't enough room down here," Walter said of her downtown Lemont location. "My customers have been getting tickets, and we're right next to the railroad tracks so I needed a place where I'd have more parking options."

Critter Cleaners will remain open in its current location through the end of January.
