Chicago Restaurant Week: Bites Nearby

Suburban restaurants are participating in the fourth annual Chicago Restaurant Week, an event inspired to showcase the best that the Windy City has to offer—at a discount.

Chicago Restaurant Week ends Feb. 27, and if you haven’t had a chance to experience a little fine dining that won’t make your wallet weep (or at least make it weep a little less), check out some local participants.

Each is offering a three-course prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menu. The prix-fixe (set price) will vary from $22 for lunch and $33 or $44 for dinner, depending upon the diner's selection.

  1. Benihana, 747 E. Butterfield Rd., Lombard
Benihana is well known for its Hibachi and Japanese-style cooking and atmosphere. Its website provides an accurate description: “At Benihana, your food is not only cooked, it’s choreographed.”
  2. , 35 S. Washington, Naperville
Catch 35 is a premier seafood restaurant (steaks are also on the menu) and has been rated as “excellent” by Zagat customer surveys since 1994.
  3. Mon Ami Gabi, 260 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook
Mon Ami Gabi is a classic French bistro, which has been flourishing under the direction of renowned Executive Chef Gabino Sotelino.
  4. Wildfire, 232 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook
Wildfire offers steaks, seafood and chops in the kind of supper club atmosphere you’d expect the Rat Pack to frequent. It’s been a regular favorite of Zagat voters for Best Restaurant.

A little advice before you dine: Advance reservations are strongly suggested and can be made by visiting the Chicago Week Restaurant  site at:www.choosechicago.com/chicago_restaurant_week_2011/pages/default.aspx.
