Tickets are still available.

Audiences will have the chance to travel somewhere over the rainbow July 18 through 20 when Little Mountain Community Theatre NFP presents its inaugural main stage production of The Wizard of Oz at Lemont High School’s Performing Arts Center, 800 Porter Street, Lemont.

Performances will take place July 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and July 20 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors. For best seating and availability, patrons are encouraged to select their seats and purchase tickets online. The box office in the PAC atrium will open one hour before performances for walk-up ticket purchases.

Sandy Doebert, President of the LMCT Board of Directors, said the LHS Performing Arts Center provides the perfect setting for the show we all know and love.

“The evil witch will frighten us and the good witch will remind us that there is no place like home,” she said. “The show will be brought to life by the wonders of the theatre technology available, the professional staff that will create and produce it, and of course amazing local talent!”

The cast consists of more than 45 actors ages 10 to 80 from Lemont and surrounding communities. Two four- legged friends are splitting the role of Dorothy’s sidekick Toto. A seasoned artistic staff and crew provide professional expertise behind the scenes.

“They are such an enthusiastic, dedicated, and talented group,” Doebert said. “It’s exciting to watch them bring this classic to life!”

In conjunction with the production, local artists will have the chance to share their work with the public in a juried art show with the theme “There’s No Place Like Home”. The art show will be held for one hour before each performance in the PAC atrium.

Patrons arriving a bit early are in for a treat, Doebert said.
