Whiz Kids' Accomplishment: The team placed second at the Illinois Elementary School Association State Finals.

Whiz Kids' Key to Awesomeness: On Saturday, Jan. 22, the team competed at the IESA State Finals. The competition, which was held at the Peoria Civic Center, featured some of the state's best elementary-level cheerleading squads. The Old Quarry team — made up of seventh-and eighth-grade students — placed second, which is their best performance in the 10 years they have participated in the competition. The team is coached by Diane Stateman, who has taught physical education in Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District for 14 years.
