Whiz Kids Names: Lemont Girl Scout Troop 259: Emmy Horn, Megan Hendry, Molly Stood, McKenna Phelan, Gracie Meloni, Ellie Cuiching, Daleigh Johnson, Shannon McCleary, Kristen McClatchy, Jayne Pelen, Sophia Cutinello and Mikaela Geraghty.

Whiz Kid's Ages/Grades: Third grade

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Members of Lemont Girl Scout Troop 259 collected 1,482 pairs of men’s socks, women’s socks, kid’s socks, baby socks, sport socks, dress socks, even silly socks from members of the community, to donate to Lemont families in need.

 Key to Awesomeness: The girls stood outside in the cold for hours in front of the local Walgreens, asked for donations from their families and friends – and even asked for donations instead of candy when they were trick-or-treating on Halloween – all to provide socks to needy families in Lemont.
