Welcome to Lemont Patch

Hello, and welcome to Lemont Patch! I'm Amanda Luevano, your local editor. It's been a long 12 weeks of preparation, but I'm so excited to finally share this site with everyone in the Lemont community.

Over the past few weeks, I've had a lot of people come up to me and say, "Are you that Patch girl? You're starting a new paper in town, right?" In a word, yes.

Patch is an online community newspaper dedicated to covering everything Lemont. Whether it's a school board meeting, a ribbon cutting or a downtown festival, we'll be there. We'll also bring you daily updates from the village's government offices, businesses, and police and fire departments.

But Lemont Patch provides more than just the news. A lot more.

We've put together a great community directory with listings for every business, school, park and church in Lemont. These listings are complete with photos and contact information and can be sorted by category. You can also use our events calendar to find out what's going on around town. We've compiled events, games and classes from several schools and organizations, including the Lemont Park District, Lemont High School, the Chamber of Commerce, the Lemont Area Historical Society and the Lemont Public Library.

I encourage you to sign up today to become an official Patch user. Though our site is free to the public, becoming a user will allow you to comment on stories, share photos and videos, and post announcements. This site was designed with you in mind, and we hope it becomes a place where you can engage with your community and discuss all the issues affecting your life every day.

As your local editor, I'm always willing to talk or to hear suggestions for improving the site—in fact, I encourage it. You can usually find me working at the Starbucks on State Street (I'm the one sipping on a latte, buried behind a Patch-labeled MacBook Pro), but I'm also available by e-mail at amanda@patch.com.
