Wanted: Dog to Play Role of Toto in 'The Wizard of Oz'

Audition is set for June 22 at Lemont Public Library.

Little Mountain Community Theatre NFP is looking to complete the cast of The Wizard of Oz with the addition of a furry, four-legged friend in the role of Toto. The audition will be held June 22 at 2 p.m. at the Lemont Public Library, 50 E. Wend Street, Lemont. The event is in conjunction with the library’s summer reading program “Paws to Read”.

Dogs auditioning must be calm, obedient, and good-natured with no history of biting or bad behavior. Although no formal training is required, they should be able to sit and come on command. All sizes and breeds are welcome, with the exception of Pit Bulls, Dobermans, and other breeds deemed dangerous. Those auditioning do not need to fit in a basket. Dogs must be healthy and have up-to-date vet records.

Dog owners must be available for all rehearsals, and for the three performances of the production scheduled for July 18 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and July 20 at 2 p.m. Rehearsals and performances will be held at the Lemont High School Performing Arts Center, 800 Porter Street, Lemont.
