Dozens gathered in Budnik Plaza on Saturday for Christmas carols and the lighting of the village tree.
Lemont Girl Scouts, village trustees and dozens of residents gathered in Budnik Plaza on Saturday for a visit from Santa Claus and the lighting of the 2011 Christmas tree.
The tree lighting was one of many highlights of the village's annual "Hometown Holiday" celebration. The event, held each year in , featured tree decorating, sleigh rides, face painting, crafts, ice sculptures and pictures with Santa.
Prior to lighting the tree, the Lemont Girl Scouts led the crowd in singing a number of Christmas carols, including "Jingle Bells," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."
