July 4 Weekend Activities

Lace up and hit the pavement

Kick off the holiday in Lemont with a run. The Lemont Park District’s Freedom Run, which features a 5K race (3.1 miles) and 10K race (6.2 miles), begins at 8 a.m. July 3, at the , 16028 W. 127th St. Awards will be given to the top two runners in each category and gender group. Day of race check-in beings at 6 a.m.

Let’s party

The Lemont Park District's annual Independence Day Extravaganza begins at 3 p.m. July 3. The day’s activities will include a beer garden and food court, Rock Pit skateboard competition, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament and a bean bag tournament.

The sound of music

Take in performances by The Neverly Brothers at 4 p.m. and Pipe Dream at 6 p.m. July 3.

Light the night

A fireworks show will begin at dusk July 3. The music for the fireworks will be simulcast on 104.1 FM.

Drive safe

Through July 4, the Lemont Police Department . Lemont is joining more than 300 law enforcement agencies in the "You Drink & Drive. You Lose" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
