Park District Plans Fireworks, Fun for Annual 'Independence Day Extravaganza'

Holiday festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. Sunday with the Freedom Run. Beer garden and food vendors open at 3 p.m. at Centennial Park.

The is celebrating the Fourth of July one day early this weekend with its annual Independence Day Extravaganza at .

Sunday's festivities kick off with a 5K and 10K in the morning, followed by an afternoon/evening of live music, food and games.

Patch is an official sponsor of the Independence Day Extravaganza, so be sure to stop by our table near the children's games. We'll be handing out free popsicles, balloons, water bottles and more!

8 a.m. Freedom Run (begins at Centennial Community Center)

3 p.m. Lemont Park Foundation's beer garden and food court open

4 p.m. Rock Pit skateboard competition/Neverly Brothers take the stage

5 p.m. 3-on-3 basketball at the CORE

5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Children's activities begin

6 p.m. Bean bag tournament starts

7 p.m. Pipe Dream takes the stage

Centennial Park is located on the Lemont Park District campus at 16028 W. 127th St.
