Library, VFW, Rotary Collecting Items for Veterans
Drop off donations at the Lemont Public Library through Nov. 11.
For the fifth year, the Lemont Public Library is partnering with Lemont VFW Post 5819 and the Rotary Club of Lemont-Homer Glen to collect office supplies, paper products, linens, gift cards, cleaning supplies and more for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton and the Hines V.A. Hospital Fisher House in North Riverside.
For each item donated, donors will receive a coupon good for a free DVD rental or $1 off library fines, up to a maximum of $10 per account. Items may be dropped off during regular library hours through Sunday, Nov. 11.
To arrange for pickup of large donations, call library director Sandra Pointon at 630-257-6541.
The wish list for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans includes items such as mops, buckets and brooms; paper plates and trash bags; copy paper, envelopes and postage stamps; sheets, blankets and towels; used cell phones, pre-paid phone cards, bus and train passes and gift cards to area stores. For Hines Fisher House, the wish list includes grocery store and restaurant gift cards, liquid detergent and fabric softener; toothpaste, liquid dish soap, paper towels and bath tissue; travel coffee mugs and umbrellas and more. For a complete wish list, click here.
