Lemont Township to Unveil New Trail Map

The maps are a product of Eagle Scout candidate Alex Bronner.

Lemont Township Supervisor Steve Rosendahl Saturday, April 26 will debut a new trail map project, created by Lemont Boy Scout Alex Bronner as his Eagle Scout project.

Supervisor Rosendahl and scout Leaders have been guiding Alex since last summer to mark three different distance trails. The trails are color-coded by cedar, and posted throughout the park. Maps are located at Roberta Drive (on kiosk) and at the Alba Street community center.

"So many residents already utilize for passive recreation & to enjoy the prairies this will make that experience even better," said Township Facilities Director Kathy Henrikson.

The unveiling will be held in conjunction with the township's cleanup day, to be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the township office, 16300 Alba St.

Starting Saturday, May 17 at 8 a.m., the township will hold organized nature walk in hopes of forming a local walking club. There will also be a prairie clean-up sponsored by the Lemont Open Space Committee that day.

"The Township and community are very grateful to Alex and his troop for this exciting addition to the Sanctuary!" said Henrikson.
