Lemont Marine Returns Home Saturday from Afghanistan

Lance Cpl. Nicholas Pettke will be welcomed home with a party at Stonehouse Pub at 2 p.m.

A Lemont High School alum will receive a hero's welcome Saturday as he returns home from a stint in Afghanistan.

U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Nicholas Pettke will be greeted by friends and gamily at the Hinsdale Oasis on Interstate-294 before heading to Lemont for a party at , 103 Stephen St., at 2 p.m.

Pettke graduated from Lemont High School in 2004 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in September 2008. He deployed to Iraq in 2009, and will return home Saturday after seven months in Afghanistan.

He will be home for a month in Romeoville, where he currently resides, before returning to Camp Pendleton in California.

The Pettke family, along with Nicholas' 2-year-old son Adam, are inviting the public to take part in his homecoming by lining up at Stonehouse no later than 1:50 p.m.
