Hope and Friendship Foundation’s fifth annual “Give that Dress and Suit Another Night Out” prom and dress clothing resale/consignment sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Christ Community Church at 13400 Bell Road in Lemont.
The sale offers an option for frugal shoppers to purchase low-cost dress clothing for special occasions such as prom, graduation, confirmation, first communion, Easter and spring formal dances.
According to organizer Terri O'Neill Borders of Hope and Friendship Foundation, the event also creates opportunities for those in the community who may think a dream dress is out of their reach.
"Counselors from neighboring high schools have been given vouchers to personally gift this act of kindness to teens whom they are aware are struggling financially and could not otherwise afford a prom dress," O'Neill Borders said.
She encourages anyone who knows of someone who may need a prom dress or dress clothing to email her at email@example.com and she will forward a voucher to share with them.
Volunteers are also needed
If you can volunteer for the event, help is needed:
- Beginning at 9 a.m Friday to help move dresses, clothing, shoes and closet rods from the Lemont Township office on Warner St. to Christ Community Church
- From 10 a.m. to noon and 6 p.m. - ? Friday to help set up the sale at Christ Community Church
- From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday for sales assistance
- From 12:30 to 1 p.m. for cleanup.
O'Neill Borders said leftover dresses and clothing will be offered to multiple outreach venues to "spread the giving ripples far outside the community."
