Donate Gently Used Prom Dresses, Dress Clothing by Feb. 24

Hope and Friendship Foundation will sponsor a resale event March 2 at Christ Community Church.

The Hope and Friendship Foundation is seeking donations of gently used or new formal and semi-formal women’s, children’s  and men’s dress clothing, dress shoes in all sizes, purses and jewelry – for its fifth annual prom and dress clothing resale and consignment sale.

The sale, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at Christ Community Church at 13400 Bell Road, offers an option for shoppers who can’t afford new dress clothing for special occasions such as prom, graduation, confirmation, first communion, Easter and spring formal dances. Lemont food pantries and area schools will distribute vouchers to those who need the gift of a prom dress or dress clothing.

Drop off donations of clothing and accessories by Feb. 24 to Christ Community Church, Lemont Township offices at 1115 Warner Ave. and the lobby of the Lemont Police Department at 14600 W. 127th St.

Dresses to be sold on consignment and dress clothing donations may also be brought to Christ Community Church from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, March 1.

Funds raised from the prom dress resale will be offered to the family of Tim O’Neil to help them through a health crisis situation.

The Hope & Friendship Foundation is a 501 (3) (C) charity helping to meet the needs of Lemont area residents. For more information visit www.hopeandfriendshipfoundation.com or email hopeandfriendp@comcast.net.

Was there ever a time when a full day was offered Jennifer? I was in kindergarten at Oakwood aboutRead More 28 years ago and even then it was half day. If you want full day Kate, St Pats/St Al's, St Cyril's, and I'm sure others are full day.

Let's get real. It is NOT a half day. It is 2.5 hours. By the time kids into class, sing a song,Read More have a snack and pee, they are done for the day. Sorry. Calling a spade a spade on this one.

Is this question really from a teacher? Full-day kindergarTen has a lot of fillers too: they eatRead More lunch, go outside, go to the bathroom, etc. I don't think our public schools allow snacks in the classroom anyway. Any teacher would know that learning starts at home, and a teacher would know how to supplement a kindergarten curriculum.
