Be the Match: Lemont Firefighters Host Bone Marrow Donor Registry for Chief's Granddaughter

The Lemont Fire Protection District will host a "Be the Match" official bone marrow donor registry event Sunday.

Save a life by registering to be a bone marrow donor. 

The Lemont Fire Protection District is hosting a "Be the Match" official bone marrow donor registry event Sunday in honor of Katie Churulo, the 4-year-old granddaughter of Lemont Fire Chief Carl Churulo.

Katie, who has already endured two open heart surgeries for a congenital heart defect, has been diagnosed with a rare immune system disorder. She will soon need a bone marrow transplant, and she needs to find her match!

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lemont Fire Protection District, 15900 New Ave. in Lemont. 

You must be 18 to 44, meet health guidelines and be willing to donate to anyone in need.
