Mount Assisi Academy has unveiled a NEW and UNIQUE program designed specifically for its students. “Roadmaps- equipping girls to navigate through life’s twists and turns and emerge as confident, independent leaders”.
The Roadmaps mission is based on the American School Counseling Association focus on academic, emotional, and social support for high school girls. The Mount Assisi program adds spiritual support within the Roadmaps context.
Roadmaps’ coordinator, Marina Tadros, shared that the students will be exposed to a year-long series of expert speakers, hands on activities, and group discussions designed to challenge them to meet the demands of everyday life. Some of the topics include interviewing for jobs and college, auto mechanics, first aid, a cooking lesson, and how to be financially savvy.
“We had our first Roadmaps session and the girls loved it” Tadros stated. “Mr. Tom Santoro spoke about dating violence and his Foundation, “Dear Lisa”, and then the students learned self-defense techniques from Adrienne Seiber- a 16 year police officer who trains recruits. She also holds belts in Tae Kwon Do, Vale Tudo, and Jui Jitsu as well as being an MMA cage fighter.”
“The most exciting part,” Tadros shared, “will be our Roadmaps session on May 5th where we will culminate the year in a Career, Volunteer, and Summer Job Fair.”If you are interested in learning more about Roadmaps and how you can help, please contact Marina Tadros at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 630-257-7844 ext. 239.
