Lemont Open For Appeals

Lemont Township Opens for Board of Review Appeals
The Cook County Board of Review announced that they will be open for Lemont Township 2013 Appeals from August 30th until September 30th 2013.  If you feel that your assessed value is high compared to similar properties, have recently purchased your home or have a recent appraisal indicating a lower value now is the time to file an appeal.  When filing your appeal it is advisable to include comparable properties, your closing statement or appraisal as documentation verifying an excessive assessed value.  Having filed an appeal with The Assessor’s Office has no bearing on filing additionally with The Board.  All Complaint forms must be received by the Board of Review no later than the close of business on September 30th.  One has the option of filing appeals online or a paper hard copy appeal.  The online appeal is the Boards preferred method and a number will be assigned immediately to help track one’s appeal. Complete filing information is available from the Board’s website www.cookcountyboardofreview.com
If your appeal this year is value based only (no issue with property description) we are offering you the option to send an email to assessor@lemonttownship.org.  We will research comparables and send them to you for use with your online appeal. All comparables will be emailed to you by the week of September 9th.
If one appeals online any additional hard copy information that you may wish to submit can be dropped off at the township office for us to deliver to the Board of Review.  Your Appeal and Property Identification Numbers must be supplied with all data to be forwarded to the Board.
Also, one can contact the Lemont Township Assessor’s Office 1115 Warner Avenue at 630-257-2522 to schedule a personal appointment.  In addition to daily hours of 8:00 till 3:00 evening appointments at the Township Office are also available.
