The two-day course will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 and Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Lemont Police Department, 14600 127th St.

The Lemont Police Department invites younger residents and their parents to participate in a drug education program, open for residents ages 11 to 17.

The two-day course will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 and Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Lemont Police Department, 14600 127th St.

The class offers Lemont youth an opportunity to learn the harm and effect of drugs and alcohol. A parent or legal guardian is required to attend the course with their child, on the second day.

The course costs $50 per child. Officers will cover the risks of drug use, including the likelihood of addiction, drinking to inebriation, impaired judgment, academic setbacks, mood-related drug abuse, impacts on relationships, and impact on like skills.

Parents interested in enrolling their children should email dbode@lemont.il.us or call (630) 257-2229. Payment is accepted on the first day of attendance.
