Many on the east coast weren't prepared for the devastation of hurricane Sandy.
Do you have a meeting place to gather with family members during or after a disaster?
Do you know what documents and important items you should have in a grab and go bag?
Do you know what's available from your local municipalities in the form of disaster relief and what you need to be prepared for on your own?
If you would like to learn about getting prepared for any type of disaster this is the meeting to attend.
The local Lemont Emergency Management Agency (LEMA), Homer Glen & Downers Grove Emergency Management Agency professionals will help us understand what we need to do in the case of any type of disaster and what is available from our local municipalities.
The Lemont Agency (LEMA) Mission Statement:
The Lemont Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) is to coordinate the efforts of the Village and Township to prepare for, respond to, mitigate and recover from disasters, both natural and man made. The Lemont EMA also provides unique and supplemental emergency services to protect the general welfare and safety of the public. For the Village and Township of Lemont, the Lemont EMA is the primary provider of the following:
Disaster Coordination
Emergency Communications
Public Notification and Warning Tornado Spotting Search and Rescue
Emergency Sheltering (in conjunction with the American Red Cross)
Emergency Evacuation
Emergency Power and Lighting

More About Lemont Township Community Center
The Lemont Township Community Center opened in February 2011 and quickly became a go-to spot for community events, family parties and government meetings. The $2 million facility is the highest point in Cook County, township officials say. In addition to a 4,500 sq. foot town hall space, the building offers a full kitchen and large patio overlooking many surrounding communities.
The center was constructed as part of the Heritage Woodland Sanctuary, and also features nature preserve to observe and explore.
