Detroit politicians took care of government and teacher unions at expense of the taxpayers and wentRead More bust. Illinois is doing the same thing and is on the way to going bust. I wish the collar counties and downstate counties could secede from Illinois.

some tried. wanted to name the county lincoln. never happened. I think the ones who wanted out wereRead More paid off to dummy up.

I accept only the tea party tenets based on the tenets pioneered by baggers of the tea.

the sooner that we are rid of the parasites in govt that feed off of the labor of the working,Read More productive individual in private industry the better off we will be.

Of what benefit is it to the taxpayers that government employees are unionized? The governmentalRead More front-line workers who deal with us, the taxpayers, are the most egotistical, lazy and arrogant of the lot. I show my card to these b*stards and they couldn't care less about any Union Brotherhood. We're knaves to them and they act like they're above us "peons." Fire every one of 'em. On Wisconsin!

Time to realize Income taxes, Fed & State are a failure. Eliminate and replace with Sales tax.Read More Eliminates the administrative costs and capture the "Underground Economy". Workers earning cash from legal and illegal activities still need to buy stuff and will pay sales taxes but now pay no income tax on illegaly obtained $,

Government speaning is out of control. Instead of finding ways to suck more money out of everRead More strapped tax payers they need to spend less. And Earl is dead on about all the people working for cash yet still collecting government assistance.

Quinn needs to blow a call into his benefactors, before being on board with the bill. I'm sure theRead More bill is mostly superficial with no taxpayer relief. Pat can adjust our income tax again, as our property taxes soar.

I have a feeling the pension compromise will be greatly overstating the savings that will be gained.Read More We need reform in this state.

Guess what ,My comment wasn't printed, AGAIN. I guess you can't talk about certain people .
anonymous October 5, 2013 at 04:40 pm
sure there will be reform from this c***sucker Cullerton and the thieves in Springfield- and theRead More same $hit will continue with the overpaid state govt slugs gettin' paid on the backs of fewer and fewer middle class IL taxpayers. BTW-Cat Joliet is down to 300 union workers after another round of layoffs this month after having around 800 working last year-IL is screwed.

Didn't Navistar get some sort of incentive to stay in Illinois, rather than move their headquartersRead More out of the state? By the same token, you would think Chicago would be offering incentives to lure ADM to Chicago. After all, Chicago offered incentives to lure what was left of Sara Lee from Downers Grove to the West Loop. Perhaps Downers Grove could offer some incentives to get ADM to move into the old Sara Lee building, which had been the Spiegel Catalog building.

You need to tell Senators Durbin and Kirk of the above information. So that they can defund andRead More delay Obama care until all corrects are made.
Matt B. September 26, 2013 at 09:33 am
I agree 100% Carl. Unfortunately neither one of our idiotic Senators from IL are willing to listenRead More to the voters. Kirk has turned out to be a RINO, and Durbin is a socialist. The only way to get rid of these two is to vote them out. Durbin tried to trip up Senator Cruz and failed. Kirk was no where around. All IL congressmen/women and Senator Kirk should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting Senator Cruz. Everyone knows where Durbin stands on this issue.

You are missing the other half of the picture, a picture Mr. Slayton knows very well- there areRead More private markets available to consumers that have different carriers and different products that consumers can choose to purchase at very different rates. That private market option isn't going away. What is changing, is the public market offers those who had cash and a desire to purchase protection can now do so. Premiums are a reflection of chosen a deductible, co-pays and other features. The more a person wants covered for their risk, the higher the premium. The reverse is also true- if a consumer selects a Bronze plan at a 60/40 co-pay to better fit their budget, that is their right. It is a balance between what your allowable personal risk can bare and what your budget will support. The goal is to find a good middle ground- not the bottom line price exclusively. If anyone continues to look at the bottom line price without consideration of the implications of coverage, they are putting themselves at great financial risk and we, as consumers, need to stop being so obtuse. If you just want a bottom line number- go to eHealth.com and good luck to you. However, if you want to mitigate your financial risk, get great coverage and understand how your selected product works inside and out- find an agent. It's free to the consumer and thousands are available to help both on the public exchange and in the private market.
