Cubs' Big Move

Earlier this month, the Cubs hired former Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum as the new manager to replace Mike Quade.

Just how big is this most recent move?

The Cubs seem to be taking big strides to rebuild their franchise after experiencing three very forgettable seasons. The Cubs brought in former Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein as their team president shortly after the season ended and now hire the archrival Brewers' former hitting coach, Dale Sveum.

Sveum was chosen over several other candidates for the job, including Mike Maddux, Sandy Alomar Jr., and Pete Mackanin — all of whom were interviewed by Cubs President Theo Epstein.

Sveum will now attempt to turn around a franchise and hand the Cubs their first division title since 2008. But with the defending World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central, winning the division, or even returning to the playoffs, will be no easy task.

Getting David DeJeasus is a plus. Another quality starting pitcher would really improve the team.
