Regardless of how you feel about a giant sports complex coming to Lemont and the issuance of possibly 21 millions dollars in bonds that might be tied to our taxes if the project doesnt pan out , the fair process is to bring this to a referendom to the people of Lemont. As I undestand it, there has been private meetings and planning sesssions going on for som time, and most of the people in my area of Lemont know very little or nothing about this project. How about letting us vote on this matter? Being against this project doesnt mean you are against progress for Lemont. I am against any major project that has been fast tracked without proper education of the taxpayers of Lemont or lettin the tax payers of Lemont make the choice.. The beauty of Lemont (for me) is that there are restaurants here or near. There are sports facilities and parks...and most of all, Lemont still has that smaller town feel to it. I can turn onto mccarthy road on a weekend without waiting five minutes for the traffic to clear...try turning on la grange road at a stop light in orland park. I love the CORE..our library...our shopping facilities. Mr. mayor please let us vota on this matter.

Thank you Rita, That is exactly what I am saying.....sign the petition. With enough signatures it HAS to go to referendum.....we should have a choice!

Lemont Old Timer, you sound a lot like Todd/JR. Is this another alias for you? If you're so sure of the success of this project, why not use your name? What is your affiliation with the mayor and village trustees?
I don't know Hank Olenick or Janet Hughes and I want a say on how 21 million dollars will be spent. Guilt by association is a desperate tactic almost as bad as trying to intimidate voters.

Well tickle me pink Jr/Todd/Lemont Old Timer/Paul, How did all the Lemont Old Timer comments change to Paul? The Paul name leads back to a litany of comments for Pancake Café. Who owns that restaurant? Isn’t he in charge of economic development? Economic ruin would be more accurate.

Cudos to Hank for making his name and number available to the forum and offering to host a petition signing. Anybody who really cares about the town and would like to have the choice to vote or have any say in the matter should contact Hank about signing a petition that calls for a referendum on the multimillion dollar sports complex. It is a shame that the village board excluded the taxpayers of Lemont in this financially significant decision.

Lemont Old Timer. AKA
Paul Chialdikas
Chair: Economic Development
(630) 257-1590,,, Member of the Village Board. HUH....wonder why you are so gung ho on this project. BTW don't you own the Pancake Cafe? I
would like to suggest a boycott of that establishment on not funding a bully....prove me wrong...YOU CANNOT...I am suggesting the people of Lemont get a say on whether this $21,0000,000 is well spent or are we jumping the gun. It needs to go to referendum for us to decide YOUR interest in the matter is obvious.
