WATCH: Demi Lovato Visits Timberline Knolls in New MTV Documentary

In a sneak peek of her new MTV documentary, singer/actress Demi Lovato pays a visit to , the Lemont treatment facility she entered in late 2010 to deal with physical and emotional issues.

"Demi Lovato: Stay Strong" will debut Tuesday at 9 p.m. CST. According to an MTV report, the hour-long special follows the 19-year-old pop star "as she struggles to confront her personal demons while also focusing on her music career."

In a clip released Monday night, Lovato reflects on her experience at Timberline Knolls, a residential facility specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, substance abuse and addiction, and mood disorders in women.

"The first time that I walked into Timberline Knolls, I sat there to eat my first meal, and it was chicken, rice, vegetables and milk, and I took like two or three bites of the chicken and was like 'OK, I'm done,'" she said, recalling how stubborn she was to eat it. "That's when I realized maybe I do belong here because I can't finish a meal."

Lovato  in October 2010. At the time, Lovato's representatives said the 18-year-old pop star had left a tour with the Jonas Brothers to receive treatment for "emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time."

During her time at Timberline Knolls, Lovato for bipolar disorder, cutting, bulimia and anorexia.

She was released in mid-January after spending a lonely New Year's Eve in treatment, MTV reports.

"We got to watch the countdown on New Year's Eve in here, and by the time it hit 1, I just started sobbing like, 'I can't believe I'm bringing in the New Year in rehab,'" she said.

The MTV special features Lovato's  in December 2011 to speak to patients about her recovery.

According to MTV News, Lovato agreed to the documentary because she wanted to give fans a "first-hand" look at her personal struggles and her return to the entertainment industry.

The special is named after two tattoos on Lovato's wrists that read, "Stay Strong." The ink pays tribute to her devoted fans, MTV reports.

Timberline Knolls

Timberline Knolls is a 43-acre facility located in Lemont. It was founded in 2005 by a team of psychiatrists, psychologists and clinicians as a residential treatment center for women dealing with trauma, eating disorders and drug addiction.

"Our residents — adult women and adolescent girls — come to us when they need immediate, life-saving and life-changing help," according to the center's website. "Our vision is to help residents achieve lifelong recovery by bringing together clinical treatment with spiritual and emotional growth."
