Oppose the Stealth Tax

There is a vacancy om the Planning and Zoning Commission and we are seeking a citizen volunteer to fill it.

The only requirements are a sincere intrest and the ability to attend monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Related experience in land use would be helpful, but it is not required.

The responsibilities of the Commission include review of new residential and commercial developments, applications for zoning changes and variations. The Planning and Zoning Commission is currently involved in updating the 2002 Comprehensive Plan.

Vehicle Stickers Go on Sale June 6

Vehicle stickers are required for all vehicles registered in the Village of Lemont, and the two-year stickers must be displayed by Aug. 1. Purchase before July 31 to receive a discounted price. The cost for passenger vehicles is $48. Stickers may be purchased Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:

• Lemont Village Hall, 418 Main St.
• Lemont Police Department, 14600 127th St.
• MB Financial Bank, 1151 State St. (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Building Department Reminds Residents of Pool Requirements

Swimming pools 24 inches (2 feet) and higher require a building permit and a 5-foot protective barrier (fence) for safety. Applications for swimming pool building permits may be obtained at the Village website. Call 630-257-1580 for more information.
