Sweetwater Deli, the quaint café and grocery shop in downtown Lemont, will be featured Sunday on the popular WGN program "Chicago's Best."
The deli, located at 316 Canal St., was one of several restaurants visited by "Chicago's Best" last month for an episode that will showcase the best of the Southwest suburbs. During the show, host Brittney Payton will show off Sweetwater's homemade chicken noodle soup, chicken salad and some of their popular sandwiches.
The episode is set to air Sunday at 10 p.m.
Annette Gioiosa and her husband Dan opened Sweetwater Deli in October 2010. The café menu includes a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads and pastas, while the deli stocks a hearty selection of meats, cheeses, fresh bread and side dishes to take home.
Since opening, Sweetwater has expanded its grocery section to include fresh fruit and vegetables, pastries, snacks and Italian cooking products—among other items.
In an interview with Patch in 2010, Gioiosa said she was hopeful the Lemont community would embrace all the Sweetwater has to offer.
"Our feeling is that you need to have the right combination of businesses down here," she said. "Sweetwater Deli is a family-owned and family-oriented business and I think that works in Lemont."
"Chicago's Best" is an Emmy Award-winning show that features the best of Chicago food, lifestyle and entertainment.
In July 2011, Nick's Tavern in Lemont was featured in a segment on "Chicago's Best Burgers."
The show airs Sundays at 10 p.m. on WGN, and replays on CLTV. For more information, check out "Chicago's Best" on Facebook.
