The 8-ball comic could have also read, "Obama thinks his billion dollar war chest is going to buy him the reality of a second term. Let's see what the magic 8-ball has to say about that." (Outlook not so good)

Not so fast. The republicans do not have a strong enough candidate to run against Obama and they have managed to insult women, minorities,the working poor,homeowners in foreclosure, union workers and public sector employees, among other groups and individuals.
The only group the republican party has not insulted and in fact, have slathered with attention are the very wealthy 1% consisting mainly of the super rich and powerful. The republican party continues to demand special tax breaks for these privileged people while at the same time voting to cut assistance to the jobless.

The last time I checked 99% was more than 1% and the 99% vote.

Four doctors were sitting around chatting.

The French doctor says:
Medicine in my country is so advanced that we can take a kidney out of one man, put it in another, and have him looking for work in six weeks.

The German doctor says:
That is nothing; we can take a lung out of one person, put it in another, and have him looking for work in four weeks.

The Russian doctor says:
In my country, medicine is so advanced that we can take half a heart out of one person, put it in another, and have them both looking for work in two weeks.

The American doctor, not to be outdone, says:
You guys are way behind - we recently took a clown with no brains out of Illinois, put him in the White House, and now half the country is looking for work.

'A guy goes into a bar where there's a robot bartender!
The robot says, "What will you have?"
The guy says, "Whiskey."
The robot brings back his drink and says to the man, "What's your IQ?"
The guy says," 168."
The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration and medical technology.
The guy leaves, . . . but he is curious . . . So he goes back into the bar.

The robot bartender says, "What will you have?"
The guy says, "Whiskey."
Again, the robot brings the man his drink and says, "What's your IQ?"
The guy says, "100."
The robot then starts to talk about Nascar, Budweiser, the Saints and LSU Tigers
The guy leaves, but finds it very interesting, so he thinks he will try it one more time.

He goes back into the bar.
The robot says, "What will you have?"
The guy says, "Whiskey," and the robot brings him his whiskey.
The robot then says, "What's your IQ?"
The guy says, "Uh, about 50."

The robot leans in real close and says, "SO, . . . you people . . . still happy . . . with Barack Obama???"

6. Lincoln was a skinny lawyer. Obama is a skinny lawyer.
7. Lincoln was a Republican. Obama is a skinny lawyer.
8. Lincoln was in the United States military. Obama is a skinny lawyer.
9. Lincoln believed in everyone carrying their own weight. Obama is a skinny lawyer.

Here Justice, here's another one!!

The Postal Services created a stamp with a picture of President Obama on it.
The Postal Service noticed that the stamp was not sticking to envelopes.
This enraged the President, who demanded a full investigation.

After a month of testing and $1.73 million in congressional spending, a special
Presidential commission presented the following findings:

1.The stamp is in perfect order.
2. There is nothing wrong with the glue.
3. People are spitting on the wrong side.

Please try and convince us why we should vote republicon this fall. So far, I am less than impressed and apparently so are most rank and file republicons.

You see, my dear, I used to be a republicon until the Bush dynasty took over. Like many other Americans, Tawanda objected to the Iraq wars and many other events which were taking place in the middle east where the long arm of the energy cartel were staking their claims.

They never ever tried to conceal what the wars were all about, and that includes Afghanistan, where to the victor go the spoils. I hope you know what that means.

I saw that administration go after the Iraq war opponents, such as the outing of CIA operative Valerie Plane by members of the Bush team. Lets not forget " Mission Accomplished " while our vets are suffering, jobless and homeless.

The republicans have created a terrible mess both here and abroad. While I am less than impressed with Obama, there is no way on earth that I would vote for another republican, except Judy Topinka. The republicons are more interested in regulation a woman's reproductive and sex life than anything.
Now try and convince me otherwise. I won't hold my breath because you cannot and you know it and that's what the meltdown is all about.
You should think before hitting the reply button.

Your President, who everyone is less than impressed with, is more like Bush than you will admit. Double down in Afghanistan (to the victor go the spoils)....is that what HE wants. Double down on the Patriot Act. Close Gitmo? NO. Soldiers killing civilians (REMEMBER WHO got the blame for Abu Ghraib) and apply the same.....killing innocent Pakistanis (remember Abu Ghraib)...Energy policy.

If it were 2050 maybe it would be coherent but solar is not here, Algae, what a joke in 2012. Meanwhile gas is at $ 4+ per gallon and Keystone gets nixed. Who was blamed in the last Presidency for high gas prices.....yes, bush. So apply your same standards, no spin.... Safety in Keystone? NO. This was the most studied pipeline project in history. Just pandering to environmentalists. No policy and misplaced vision. Apologize to the world, bow to Saudi's, tell the world America is and was "arrogant". Racism (the police acted stupidly!). Remember that?

Well let’s have a beer in the rose garden and let the world see that I'm a regular guy. Capitalism over European socialism. All Americans deserve opportunity. Not handouts. Handouts are OK when needed, but not to BUY a VOTE which is what his entitlements do. How about a budget? 1100 + days with no budget. Don’t blame it on Repubs because he owned congress and the senate for 2+ years and did nothing. He could only envision a govt takeover of healthcare with NO budget, unemployment, and homelessness. He should have been refocusing where the priorities were, or....at the least....try multi-tasking. Bush was far from perfect but he is really little change and worse with his "fundamental transformation"......

As far as women’s reproductive systems go, that is a farce and you know it. He is infringing into religious beliefs. That failed so bring forth Fluke. Women can get contraceptives all over. No one is interested in controlling your vaginas. I and my conservative friends laugh at this as we all see what is happening. Look at the fluke and the Knickerbockers organization and Anita Dunn who is actually pimping her out and then tell me who is exploiting her and her Georgetown friends Vaginas. Yes, the democrats who want to say it is Repubs. But there is your rank hypocrisy. This only touches on the similarities between Bush and Obama, not to even begin to get into his incompetency’s and lack of respect for America.

Not a fake, just another Xrepublicon and there are a lot of us. The GOP demands blind allegiance and obedience to it's agenda. You are not allowed to question or take issue with the official platform and policies; just shut up and vote for them and believe every lie and spin that emulates from their financiers and shills.

The GOP is in trouble because it is the party of the old white rich men:
http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/318-66/10478-gop-old-white-and-in-trouble-poll-says
and yes, the GOP and it's official religious wing, want to regulate women's reproduction and for this they will pay a heavy price. This is 2012 and not 1899 and if a woman chooses to use the pill, that is her business and as long as insurance companies pay for viagra, testosterone replacement therapy and penis pumps, then they must cover contraceptives.
To call women who support contraceptives s^%ts, prostitutes and to demand that porn videos of these women be made available on line for the amusement of Rush Limbaugh and his followers was the final nail in the coffin.
Am I happy with Obama ? Not really but compared to Bush et al, absolutely.

What a Deal. Again, you avoided the question, or simply don't have any answers. Instead, you again point fingers. Excellent choice.
Corporate tax rates are high. I agree. But he has recently suggested that the rates be dropped, down to 28%, while eliminating some deductions and adding others. It's a start. What have the Republicans countered with exactly? Share a link.
I don't agree on your foreign policy statement. Other than hurting our relationship with Pakistan, which decides on helpfulness to us as the wind blows, it seems our relationships have bettered themselves. Again, if I'm wrong, links please.
Energy? Nothing that gets put in place today, will stop the onslaught of higher prices tomorrow, or for the next several months. The Keystone needs some redirection. I can only assume that if a pipeline were built over the water source that you were using was included that you would have different ideas.
Second Rate Nation? Are you kidding me? We are now, and I hope remain, a first class nation. There is nowhere in the universe (Newt might disagree) that I would rather live and raise my family. Nowhere.
Last time I'll ask. Answer the question. Point to facts about what the Republicans would do to make things better. Things that don't effect a woman's rights. A middle class downsizing. An energy plan that also helps keep the planet intact. A foreign policy that doesn't make us the World Police. An economy that isn't run by Wall Street.

Pls: No links from Faux News

You are worried about the masses, what about individual opportunity? Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. What a Deal!
Below was the voting for the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The original House version:
Southern Democrats: 7–87 (7%–93%)
Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0%–100%)
Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%–6%)
Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%–15%)
The Senate version:
Southern Democrats: 1–20 (5%–95%)
Southern Republicans: 0–1 (0%–100%)
Northern Democrats: 45-1 (98%–2%)
Northern Republicans: 27-5 (84%–16%)

In my own mind, and I'm willing to take the heat for it, Southern Democrats were of the same mind as Blue Dog Democrats of today. They say that they are Democrats, but vote as conservative leaning, which makes them Republicans in almost every way. And yes. President Kennedy as well as others knew that they would have to 'cater to' a number of Republicans in order to get this passed, so, factual as it may be, your 'Without Republicans civil rights would have never passed' is clearly not reflective of the fact that they pressed for, and received, concessions in order to allow this bill to pass. That doesn't make them the champions of civil rights that you portray.

Shawn, the civil rights portion is just your "spin". Look at the numbers. I am also not arguing healthcare......individual mandate. Just sayin....Obama's only focus was on HC. So try another argument dear....just sayin. He did absolutely nothing to address the needs of the unemployed, homeless, etc and he had control of congress/senate for over two years. That is pitiful.

Oh and while you look at the numbers you if you want to bring up HC, look at those numbers (> 75% opposed)(new CBO numbers show a huge loss due to accounting tricks) (you won't lose your doctor or insurance if you like them/it....oooops. CBO says, except fopr about25 million people!!!) and let the courts do their job on the mandate and let Obama make up the lies on insurance.... What are you the judge and jury on individual mandates?

My spin? No. Numbers, and the way that they voted, as well as their party affiliation. No spin. Facts.
Do you remember the stimulus? $780Billion. Though it wasn't without it's faults, it was an attempt to make things better. And, speaking as a person that had a vested interest in what happen in the Automotive Industry, he certainly saved a load of jobs there. Had those dominoes fallen, we wouldn't be having this conversation, as so many other things would have fallen with them.
I have control of my car. However. I do not have control of other drivers. Not unlike the way that the Republicans blocked, filibustered and jammed their way with everything anyone tried to do in the first 2 years of the Obama Presidency, and the prior 8 years with President Bush. You can't move things forward if there is friction in the way. And there was/is a lot of friction.
75% opposing something until they are asked about specifics that are contained within the bill. Then the numbers take a dramatic change, the opposite way. If it wasn't for the fact that there was/is so much misinformation about healthcare, this would be a no brainier. It was a Republican idea in the first place. Again I wasn't asking you to defend or support it, rather pointing out that smoke and mirrors is what the Republican version is now. As to facts:
$1.083 trillion over the next decade. - vs - Last year estimate $1.131 trillion over the same period of time. Again. Facts.

More Facts:
And 30 million will be covered instead of the original 32 million covered from a year ago estimate.

Note that in my other post, I don't see the same 'huge loss' you speak of, nor, as I outlined above, the 25 million you speak of. Maybe I missed that. Link please. In fact. I would be happy to look at any links you have to offer. Really.

If we were back to the time when the Republicans were talking mandate, and there was a Constitutional challenge, with the same Justices that we have today, the outcome would be, what I believe it will be anyway. It will/would not be struck down.

I wanted to take a moment and thank you for the sparring. However. I can give no more time to you as I believe that you have no clear ideas on how to fix what's broken, and only wish to bash the President of the United States. As such, with the exception of one more reply on a post below, I know that we can't agree on much, because you haven't offered anything to agree upon. I'll watch for you to supply some links and bring real facts to this board. The maybe we can pick up again.

Good luck to you, and your party. See you again in 4 years.

@ Tawanda.anyone can find articles to suit their arguments. I posted one a few weeks back. Just because you post a link, that fits your ideology, doesn't mnake it true, nor does it sway me one inch. Both of your arguments are weak and spin. it is pitiful, that this man had total control for two years and barely passed HC. He can even get the dems to vote for his submitted budgets now. here we go with the conspiracies and deflection tactics. so typical. best defense is a good...conspiracy theory ?
why are you unable to present a convincing arguement as to why anyone would want to vote for a republican in fall, despite being asked to by a few posters here.

you instead launch attacks on Obama because you have a pathological hatred and fixation on him which you need to explore with a therapist for you own mental health. do you really believe that by attacking Obama, your candidate Mitt Romney will somehow win by default? 99% is still more than 1% and even other republicons can't stomach the guy because he is an empty suit super rich and out of touch Wall Street waterboy who has a secret plan to fix America but doesn't want to reveal it because, as Mittens himself stated " no one will vote for me " HELLO are you paying attention ? He said he has a plan but refuses to reveal it and yet, America should flock to the polls and vote for him ? In your dreams, perhaps.
Obama should never have allowed the minority party to run roughtshot over the will of the American people, but he did. There are a number of things which have displeased Tawanda but so far I am not convinced the cons can fix much of anything, including the division and in-fighting within their own party.

Good for China! Really. Even the Canadians didn't want that pipeline crossing their own territory. Now, it won't have to. And since the US is exporting more oil than in the last 10 years, and the prices continue to go up, I guess what should really happen is that we should stop exporting and use it ourselves. But. On the World Market, the oil we produce is worth more than it is here. So. We'll keep exporting it. I believe that it will be a while before Exxon is toppled, but I might be wrong.
I don't and can't find a reason to blame President Obama for higher oil prices. Having a friend in the industry, I think that I know enough to know that he has nothing to do with it. Could he slow regulations and open more areas? Why yes, he could. But like I don't want my kids to be paying my financial tab for their lives, I also don't want my kids to miss the benefit of pristine land. And without regulations, that possibility is more than a long-shot. Think Gulf Oil Spill.
As to where I get my news? Everywhere. Including the 'Fair and Balanced' network. Always good for a laugh.
Lastly. Tawanda and I are not the same person. Though we do appear to have some of the same views, we aren't. And if there was a disagreement between the two of us, I am certain that we would offer each other facts that we can find and be allowed to simply not agree. @What a Deal! - I won't answer for Tawanda, just myself. I said before. I don't blame him. I blame speculation. I blame Iran. I blame Wall Street. I blame foreign markets.

What do you blame President Obama for exactly? Regulations? Without them, we'd have more spills and clean up work. Not drilling our own land? Depends on where. Maybe someone should come and search under your house? Then. When there is a catastrophic accident, feel free to blame President Obama FOR allowing drilling with LESS REGULATION and OVERSIGHT.

I would like to take a moment and head back down memory lane with you if I might. In 2012, the Republicans cleaned the clocks of many, many Democrats. It was amazing. They ran on a platform of Jobs... Jobs... Jobs...

Where are they again? Several bills haven't made their way out of conference or have been pushed aside in the House. The House is controlled by the Republicans. The people that you sometimes align with. Remember the pipeline and it's 100k+ jobs possibility that then went to 50K+ jobs possible, that finally settled in at around 6000 total? How'd you feel about that? Kind of like the 'Shovel Ready' jobs that President Obama touted, that were a no-show. See. There is another disappointing moment for me with 'our' President. Darn.

Lastly. I really did go back and try to find your 'non-bashing' points. But. Most of them seemed to be countered by facts, and therefore, I didn't take much stock in them. Maybe I missed a deeper meaning?

The republicons voted last week to continue taxpayer subsidies to big oil, the same big oil whose making another killing at the gas pumps and polluting our enviornment, and until you can convince thinking people why they would want more of the same, I will not vote for any GOP except Judy Barr Topinka.
The GOP is owned by big oil and other global interests who care only about lining their pockets.

I use Google to research. This query https://www.google.com/search?q=largest+oil%20producing%20countries led me to information on the largest oil producers in the world. Canada, doesn't even appear on the list in the top few holes. But the US? A solid #3! If we are number 3, then tell me again why drilling more here would make prices go down? Would we not continue to export more, like we do today? Would the companies that hold that oil not make even more money on the backs of the US citizens as well as others in the World Market? Help me understand what would be different.

It is supply and demand, whether domestic or global. Since it is a global market, more oil in the world market (some produced by us) equals lower prices. Econ 101. Even Obama's energy czar staed that in the latest hearings. Your own people.

Comment_arrow

Maybe it's the fact that the world markets believe that if the Strait of Hormuz is slowed or shut down by Iran, that everyone will suffer. But that always confuses me because only 35% of the worlds oil travels through it, which means that there would still be a lot available elsewhere. But a good stoppage drives up prices, so they'll have at it anyway.

And if the US is producing more, and 'his' own people said that prices would go down, and we are using less (more supply, less demand), then again... why is it so expensive? It can't be President Obama. Right?

What a Deal!

9:44 pm on Monday, April 2, 2012

@ Shawn, 8:10 repsonse......if you have a friend in the industry he or she would tell you drilling has never been safer. Yes, the gulf was a shame, accidents willhappen. The problem is, Obama restricts the US from drilling, but that only stops US drilling. Other countries (Brazil for one) is now drilling those parts. He is only shifting the countries that will get the oil. It could be ours, but now it's theirs. And you are worried about passing debt to our children. What a joke. This president has spent more than all others combines. And don't give me the war and accounting crap. He was supposed to stop them yet he doubled down. Also, we are out of Iraq (thank God), and war is the ar dividend? He just asked for 1.2 trillion increase. Yea, nice dividend.

As far as jobs, jobs, jobs...the facts are that Prince Harry Reid has killed (Dead on arrival) over 27 republican bills. That is a fact. He is an obstructionist but your beloved liberal media keeps that under the sheets. Take it back...Harry Reid is a TROLL. Don't spew crap and tell me you fought off all my statements. It is my opinion, based on what my friends in the industry say, that if the US wants to drill more, that they should be able to. Those same friends, however, caution against the Government relaxing regulations so that the 'never been safer' aspect can still hold true.
I don't understand the Brazil comment, in that, I wasn't able to determine if Brazil was drilling for oil in the coastal waters off the shores of the United States. I would think, that if they are, there would be something wrong with that. If they are drilling in their own coastal waters, then how does that hurt us again? I'm sorry. I just don't understand the reference. Brazil produces 3.1% of the worlds oil and we produce 11.1%?
Real quick on debt. At the end of 2011, the debt was 14.3 Trillion. Here are the %'s as they apply to each President:
Prior to Reagan - 7%~ Reagan - 13.2% ~ George H. W. Bush - 10.5% ~ Bill Clinton - 9.8% ~ George W. Bush - 42.7% ~ President Obama - 16.8%.

@ What a Deal: the Deep Horizon well blowout was no accident. It was criminal negligence, compounded by the poisoning of the Gulf Of Mexica with toxic corexit, a substance banned in many countries including Great Britain, home of BP, who was allowed to pour and spray this highly toxic cocktail into our water and on our land.

Look up the word " accident " in your dictionary. The gulf disaster hardly qualifies as an accident.
The oil is in the food chain and dolphins and other sea creatures are devastated. The shrimpers and crabbers are out of business but, according to BP and their tourist commericals,.." everything's fine...come on down.!!.."

~~
absolutely not true. since the Deep Horizon blowout, a drilling moratorium went into effect, which has since been lifted by Obama. There have been no improvements in safety and as a matter of fact, BP is using the same safety manuals and plans they used when their own well blew, so please provide proof that drilling has never been safer. I will not hold my breath waiting for your documentation because none exists. More spin, that is all.
Furthermore, the domestic crude is sold on the open market and not given over to the American people at a discount rate as some sort of compensation for polluting and destroying the enviornment. It is in fact sold to China and other countries by the same corporations which were given special tax subsidies by, you guessed, the republicons.
Please proove me wrong. You can't but will try to deflect and detract again from the issue and that is America is being pillaged by the energy cartel and their republican friends in congress.

As far as the auto industry. There is another side. Rather than burden the taxpayer woith a bailout they could have provided bankruptcy whicjh just cleared them of their debt and started with a clean slate. NO. He robbed the taxpayer and then screwed stockholders (our 401K's) and put over 2200 dealreships and their employees out of business while giving the unions ownership. There were options. Bankruptcy does not mean closure. Many analysts have concluded the company, employees, stockholders, and dealerships would have been better off and the auto industry would have come back even more competitive. It is naive that YOU think bankruptchy means closing the doors and walking away. But there are always those blinded by rhetoric. But, yoiu know and are as close to the auto industry as you are the oil industry and you think that makes you qualified to speak on it. You think you are qualified to speak for me. And. Haven't we been paid back most of what was used?

I am very close to the auto industry. Have been working in it in some capacity since I was 14.

I know what bankruptcy means. I was contemplating it very hard when I was laid off 9 years ago. It was a 3 year struggle for me, as well as my family, but we made it through it, and I am working to clear off all the debt that i incurred. I'm going to get there if it kills me. The government is 3 bodies. 3 divided bodies. If there had been some partisanship, then more would have gotten through. But the right would have none of that.

In my opinion, this quote from Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says it all:

“Well that is true, [making Obama a one-term President is] my single most important political goal along with every active Republican in the country.

And they have done a fine job of that. If only they had used that energy to find common ground.

Obama is a terrific speaker, thats a fact. America needs more than a terrific speaker or a candidate who will represent only the 1% at the expence of the 99% .

Our congress is owned by large powerful corporate interests and Wall Street and we need to get the money out and restore this country to a real democracy for the people and by the people but those in charge will not allow that to happen.

Obama is a socialist community organiizer diciple of Saul Alinsky anti-American, Kenyan born in a hut to Muslims a communist who wants to re-distribute the wealth and rape and pillage while controlling gas prices and ruining good business opportunities for unemployed Americans..blah blah blah blah....

So there you go. I found a job and was entitled as it took mne eight weeks. I only collected one and paid my own COBRA. Can you say the same? Excellent. You used an entitlement. Something that your party, IMHO, is strongly against, and wishes was no longer available. I remember unemployment. It didn't last very long, and only stalled out the fact that I drained my IRA. Probably better though, as had I waited, it would have been drained in a completely different way in 2007-8-9. That would have sucked.

I lost my job, due to a purchase of my company (consolidation) in 2003, when unemployment was at 5.8 to 6.3%. Not that much lower than it is today.

Do you know who has the worst record for a Presidency for creating jobs in the last 50 years? Feel free to look it up: http://www.bls.gov/home.htm <-- U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

@ Shawn: I personally know a " tea party patriot " who has marched and lobbied against what he called " entitlements for lazy takers such as food stamp reciepients " posting all sorts of rightwing spin on his facebook page about " all those lazy welfare queens who want a nanny state.." and guess what he did when he lost his job ?
Without much fanfare and with the utmost of descretion, he applied for welfare, food stamps, public aid, state medical care for his kids, etc.

He asked those who know him to keep quiet about this while he continued attacking these same programs that provided a safety net for him and his family.

So typical republicon. They love welfare and entitlements, as long as they're first in line.

@WAD! Sorry. Tired of writing it out. IMHO, maybe, like me, she thinks that your writing style is not only spell-check deficient, but also shrill? I love Aldi. And I too carry the Goodwill Card!
IMHO, President Bush will be blamed for a long time. They were not the quality years that we had hoped for, and also the last 3 under President Obama. But they were bad for considerably different reasons. PB came in with a surplus that he went to town on. PO came in with things going so badly, that even he must have wondered why he took this on, at this time. Needless to say. The jobless rate hit an unspeakable high and has retreated a bit. Enough? Not nearly. But it is coming down. IMHO, it will never again hover where it was.
IMHO, it's like this. A guy walks out into the forest. He lights a cigarette and enjoys it for a while. He tosses it to the ground, and heads about his business. The cigarette wasn't out and smolders in the leaves. The leaves start afire. The trees start afire. Soon there is a brush and timber fire raging. It, in turn, causes homes and businesses at the edge of the forest to be engulfed in flames. Millions of property, forest and livelihoods are lost. IMHO, by the way the I read into your statement, it would have been the trees fault for being there. The guy had the constitutional right to smoke. So he could not have been at fault.
Again. Like I said before. I blame the House and Senate. They have been there through all of this. PB just signed his name.

Too much. It wasn't just Bush, either. It was loot and pillage time ! I hope for four more. Only this time, I hope that he doesn't let things go. That he pursues his agenda to the fullest without backing down and offering so many concessions that bit him the first time. I believe that he has learned his lesson. Only time will tell.

But just as important, the House and the Senate need to take responsibility for what they stood and watched happen, and work for the People instead of the Corporations. After all, they are our employees, right? Personally, I'd fire most of them. On both sides of the aisle. But that's just me! :)

President Barack Obama’s attack on the Supreme Court appeared to backfire Tuesday, when the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals issued an order giving the Justice Department until noon Thursday to state whether the administration truly believes courts lack the authority to strike down mandates that they determine are unconstitutional.

On Monday, Obama said that striking down his signature healthcare legislation would be an “unprecedented, extraordinary step” and would demonstrate a lack of “judicial restraint” by the Supreme Court.

He also pointed out that the nine Supreme Court justices are unelected, suggesting that it would therefore be undemocratic for them to overturn Obamacare, which narrowly eked through Congress by a seven vote margin in the House of Representatives

I believe everyone is "beating a dead horse" in this situation. Why throw personal attacks? Does it really matter who has the last word? The world is how it is and the solutions are not easily made up and put into practice so asking those who are not in the position of the President is frivolous and unwarranted. The fact is the government is broken and when people stop affiliating themselves with party instead of candidates and what they are able to do, the country won’t fix itself. I have quite enjoyed reading these posts because the intensity is admirable, however this is no longer a discussion but about personal agendas and being better than one another. I am not a mind reader, but I do pick up on context clues. And before anyone bashes me for being a "Teen" I do vote and am educated enough to make an informed decision; unlike many Americans or persons of Kendall County for that matter. @ Jim Smith,
My comment was not saying the president cannot be criticized but that he and those in his cabinet are the only ones who know what is really going on. So asking persons on this blog to come up with solutions is silly in my opinion. Do I have the solutions? Heavens no, but I have no idea what it takes to be president either so my solutions my not work even if proposed. I also have not seen solutions posted as to how they intend on "fixing" the problem. I do know though that the Democrat vs. Republican war cannot and will not be won by a particular party.
@Joe Cool,
I am Amber Milliron, however, people who know my father must understand that I hold my own opinion and he his. We are separate people and though he may influence my life, I think for myself and analyze the facts. This is the reason I chose this name if you will. People of the world associate people and assume them to be too much a like and I wish to stand as my own person. I have blatantly stated that he is my father and will continue to stand by him, however, like I said we do not share similar opinions and so I wish people would take my opinion as my own and leave him out of it. Thank you for confirming what I thought would happen, and it is clear to me that you are no fan of him. You are entitled to your opinion and it will be respected on my end, but please take my words as my own and what my opinions are and leave him out of it.

@Jim Smith,
The truth I am talking about. All that is said in media is here-say. Do you really believe you would be a better president? People are usually not looking at the big picture and they look with tinted glasses of the party they are affiliated. I am not here to take criticisms about my age or my ideals. I can simply say what i believe is the true problem. This stain of posts has not done either party justice in my opinion. There needs to be more moderates in the world then maybe the President and Congress could actually cooperate, rather than act like people who were not taught to share as children. Yes I am aware they deal with controversial issues, but that does not mean they have to look the other way when someone gives a new idea. I am dumbfounded that people act worst than high school students on a daily basis. I am appalled that people slander one another as well, the American government is fractured with little hope of repair it seems.

Tawanda said: "The total real cost of the bankster bailouts are in fact in excess of 20 trillion dollars:"

First, do you EVER provide any sources other than personal blogs or propaganda websites?

Second, did you bother to read the article? The author admits something about the study which over inflates the figure you cite as the amount of the bailout.

The people who did the study over counted the money lent. As the author indicates, if $1 was lent overnight for three nights in a row, that was counted as $3 worth or loans. If that same $1 was lent ever night for three years, that was counted as $1,095 worth of lending. That accounting approach greatly overstates the amount of lending that actually occurred.

Third, you fail to address the fact that Goldman - and many other banks - paid back the bailout money completely.

Finally, the total federal debt is now about $15.4T. If TARP cost $20T like you claim (which was already disproved above) and if it was not repaid (it HAS been repaid) where is that $20T debt hidden?

Tawanda, you are still not reading the articles to which you link.

You apparently don't understand that in coming up with the $29T figure, people are over counting the value of the loans.

If you lend $1 for three years, that is one dollar lent for 3 years, right?

If you lend $1 overnight, it gets paid back the next morning, and then you lend it out again the next night, you still are dealing with only $1.

However, that $29T figure is based on adding up every time that $1 was lent out over night for three years, treating that one dollar as $1,095 worth of loans, even thought the maximum risk at any time was still only $1.

That's sort of like saying since about 4% of adults are homosexual, then someone can represent the 96% of the people who aren't and thus feel entitled to "go after" the 4% the way you communists are going after the 1% that you demonize.

As has been explained to you a couple of times now, that $29T figure is ONLY derived if you over count the bailout by a factor of more than 200 times.

Lend someone $1 for three years. Your exposure is $1.

Lend someone $1 overnight every night for three years and your exposure is STILL only $1.

Your $29T figure is based on counting that $1 loan as $1,095 - 365 days in a year times $1 times three years. That's bogus accounting.

The best part about Obama running for reelection is that when he goes down hard on 11/6, he's going to take with him big numbers of Dem politicians at all levels. Americans are fed up with his arrogance and betrayal of the country, so they're going to turn out the vote.

And Obama's supporters are backing off from him (which is why the left is manufacturing controversies - they need to fire up their radical base).

Do you know why there are very few US-based pharmaceutical firms that still make flu vaccine? Almost all our flu vaccine comes from firms based in Germany, England, France, Australia, etc..

The reason is because one of the few parts of Hillarycare that was implemented was the requirement that US-based manufacturers of flu vaccine donate a portion of their output to the government for redistribution to the poor.

Knowing that they could no longer compete in the global market, almost all US-based manufacturers sold off their flu vaccine facilities to foreign companies.

The worldwide flu vaccine industry is worth about $5B in sales annually. Congratulations to Hillary Clinton for giving those sales and profits to foreign companies! Usually it takes a concerted effort by a labor union to chase away that many jobs and corporate profits, but Hillary was able to do it ALL BY HERSELF!

Prove that. Flu vaccinations have indeed reduced the amount of flu in the USA.

Tawanda also misstated: "Additionally and of more concern is the vast amount of mercury used as a preservative."

Apparently you are unaware that you can get vaccines without the preservative Thiomersol just by requesting them. You don't even have to request them anymore in many locations because due to hoax-induced hysteria, anti-scientific people like yourself have complained so much that Thiomersol is not used much anymore to protect vaccines.

And apparently you are unaware that there is no scientific evidence that any damage was ever caused to anyone by Thiomersol.

Thiomersol was originally called Merthiolate, which was considered one of the top five medical compounds ever invented because of its ability to kill bacteria without harming humans.

Like Tawanda who feels she is an expert in the auto industry and the oil industry because she knows people there I can speak to the flu comments as I am directly involved in the medical field and AM required to get a flu shot. Their are multiple strains of flu virus in the world. The flu shot covers the strains the CDC and WHO feel are the largest threat in numbers and severity. However, you can got immunize against hundreds of strains of flu. If you get a flu shot, and then get the flu, you are getting a strain of flu that was not included in the immunization. But the chances are it will be less severe and even less threatening to susceptible parts of the population. So your anecdotal observations do not hold up. Sorry to disappoint you Tawanda but again, you claim to be an expert on something you know nothing about. If you don't want it, don't get it. But it may save your life.

The president also proposed significant changes to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). With these proposals, the president is playing cynical political games, rather than making the responsible choices needed to maintain affordable health coverage for millions of Americans.

IMHO: Seems like those cuts were made right before the President took office?

"The biggest bailout mechanism was the banks’ ability to go to the Fed and borrow hundreds of billions in emergency loans at rock-bottom interest rates, or sometimes at zero. Goldman, for instance, borrowed $600 billion in emergency loans during the crisis period, which makes the $10 billion TARP payment look meager."

We all still got the shaft.

And. It is. But the more important reason to ask is that generally, IMHO, people that are asked a question, generally (or maybe hopefully) are able to speak the ideas of their candidate(s) in a way that helps others (maybe me. Maybe you. Maybe the others spending time on this string) to form other opinions. Also, IMHO, if all that happens when asked, is a bash-fest, then it seems clear that there are no real ideas that are able to be presented, and therefore, bashing is the only line of defense.

To me, that's whats silly.

Tawanda said: "The people I know who received flu shots this past year got the flu anyway. Go figure."

There are different types of flu. It's possible that "all" your friends contracted types of flu that were not covered by the vaccine. The formulation for the vaccine is determined in the winter and spring for six months later.

The flu vaccine is about 60-70% effective. That is still a large enough positive result to justify taking it. When a large portion of a society is vaccinated, that provides "herd immunity." IOW, when enough people don't get flu, that reduces the chances that even non-vaccinated people will get it because fewer people are passing the virus along.

BTW, I have not had the flu once since I started getting vaccinated many years ago.

Tawanda, I would like to see your scientific proof that the flu vaccine is completely ineffective.

Reply

Jim Smith

6:11 pm on Friday, April 6, 2012

"flu shots are ineffective against viral flu epidemics, especially when the virus mutates."

1) The flu vaccine is very close to 100% safe, which is far safer than the flu virus (which can kill over 50,000 in a year).

2) When a portion of the population is vaccinated against flu, statistics show that other diseases (such as pneumonia) decrease as well. This is most pronounced among people whose immune systems are compromised, such as in the elderly or people with HIV.

3) There have been direct studies whereby people were vaccinated and then had flu virus sprayed into their nostrils. Flu vaccine is about 96% effective in those situations - so it does work. Furthermore, those subjects were far less able to spread the virus than were people who were not vaccinated.

Consider John Doerr, one of Obama's top technology advisors: http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/advisory-boards/jobs-council/members/doerr

John Doerr works for Kleiner Perkins, a venture capital firm that has benefited greatly from federal grants, loans, contracts, and special favors. For example, Doerr (along with Al Gore) made big investments in Fisker Automotive (they build electric cars in Finland) and in electric bus maker Proterra.

John Doerr is an Obama bundler, having raised a lot of money for Barry.

That's how it works in the Dem party - the wealthy contribute money to Dem politicians and in return get a lot more money back.

First, there is no attack on contraceptives - that's just bogus Dem dogma.

Second, there IS a difference between Viagra - which is used to treat erectile dysfunction, an adverse medical condition, and contraceptives.

Pregnancy is not normally considered to be an adverse medical condition.

A more valid comparison would be between Viagra and hormone treatments for menopause.

Both are for gender-related dysfunction related to reproduction - and both are routinely covered by health insurance plans.

You remind us again that Dems are reduced to fabricating issues based on misrepresentation.

Viagra,as you well know, is a little blue pill which is supposed to help a man acheive an erection so he can enjoy sex. Enjoy sex, something the republicons approve of for men but not for women. Men may enjoy sex to their hearts content but women are only allowed to have sex under the guidence and approval of men and only for reproduction. Those are the rules according to the GOP and that is why women are abandoning them.

When you demonstrate an ability to respond to direct questions from others and not continually change the subject and not continually cite propaganda websites, then maybe you will earn the right to ask for direct responses.

3) Don't have a child until they are in a committed, financially secure relationship.

Apparently you think it's great that children grow up in poverty.

The National Review fired this columnist tonight but I suppose unless you hear about it on fox news or Rush Limbaugh's excrement in broadcasting, it didn't happen.

The senator who proposed this bill that would catagorize households headed by single parents to be at high risk for child abuse. Most single parent households are headed by women, of course, and it's author, sen. Glenn Grothman (WI) is a childless unmarried man in his late 50's or early 60's He is very strange person and creeped me out.as I watched him on TV.. He proposes this expansion of government into households headed mostly by women.
Child abuse crosses all socio-economic and racial lines. This is more attacks on women by the GOP and an insult on every single parent in this country.The reality is the GOP continues to alienate large groups of Americans with their bigotry and misogyny and if you really think that your agenda of blasting Obama at every chance will somehow translate into votes for the mittens-dude, you are tripping.

That type of behavior is the key signature of someone who has drunk too deeply of leftist Kool-Aid.

A basic element of becoming indoctrinated is to suspend disbelief, which is clearly what Tawanda has done.

Once the liberals get someone to do that - to abandon reason in favor of "the party" - they can get their followers to believe and do just about anything.

Low IQ & Liberal Beliefs Linked To Poor Research

Their “Bright Minds and Dark Attitudes: Lower Cognitive Ability Predicts Greater Prejudice Through Right-Wing Ideology and Low Intergroup Contact” published in Psychological Science1—headlined in the press as Low IQ & Conservative Beliefs Linked to Prejudice—is a textbook example of confused data, unrecognized bias, and ignorance of statistics.

How did they prove that idiots and conservatives are racists? They gathered two large data sets from the UK, one started in 1958 (NCDS), the other in 1970 (BCS); about 16,000 individuals in total, roughly equal numbers of males and females. The quizzed the groups when they reached 11 and 10 years old on their “intelligence”; they then came back to these individuals when they were 33 and 30 and asked them about their “socially conservative ideology and racism.”

Republicon strategy for winning in 2012:

Bash and rip Obama at every opportunity. invent and lie if necessary. label anyone who disagrees with or takes issue with the spin and baseless rants as " socialists, communists, anti-American, welfare queens; whatever works; the more emotionally charged the labels, the better. The bottom line: make sure the democrats & independents stay home in 2012 like they did in 2010.

Do Not Endorse Our Slate Of Incompetents And Losers: we here at the RNC know they're losers but they're OUR losers and they do as they're told and that's our kind of candidate. Just stay focused on bashing Obama, that's what matters.

Why change a tried and true recipe that worked so well in 2010. The GOP wants the D's not to vote so their corporate waterboys and social engineers can clean up and we here at the GOP can claim another " landslide mandate " and really wage the mother of all wars against the struggling American citizens, starting with the Ryan budget.
This is exactly why WaD aka Jim Smith will not endorse Romney.

I wonder who the Dems will nominate. If they stick with Barry, they'll lose not only the White House but huge numbers of political offices at all levels.

If they swap out Barry for a more electable candidate they'll alienate their radical base. They'd still lose the WH but they wouldn't lose as many other offices.

Facts speak for themselves:

"Gas Prices Grow More Under Obama than Carter"

"Marking the similarities between President Barack Obama's time in office and former president Jimmy Carter's is nothing new. But as of Monday, Obama has hit one more Carter benchmark - both saw gas prices double in their first term of office. [See Where Gas Prices are Spiking the Most]

In fact, while just barely, Obama has seen an even higher gas price increase than Carter dealt with under his administration.

Under the Carter administration, gas prices increased by 103.77 percent. Gas prices since Obama took office have risen by 103.79 percent. No other presidents in recent years have struggled as much with soaring oil prices. Under the Reagan administration, gas prices actually dropped 66 percent. When Bill Clinton was president, gas prices grew by roughly 30 percent, and under both Bush presidencies, gas prices rose by 20 percent."

Original, not "origional." I see that your originality also can be found in your spelling.

"only repeats or "borrows" the intellectual property of others. "

You're the one who spams the board with links to and quotes from blogs and propaganda websites like HuffPo. You hardly have the high ground on that issue.

And when you are challenged directly and factually, such as concerning the bogus $27T bailout claim, you just cite more BS and do not address the issue.

~~~
my career took a direct hit as a result of the Bush-Cheney depression. as a self-employed person, I was forced to pursue other more viable options in the business world.
This had nothing whatsoever to do with Obama but, once again like clockwork, you simply must deflect your anger and profound ignorance onto someone you didn't vote for in the first place. Our economy has been on a collision course with itself for years. Just because a lightbulb went on in your head around 2008 doesn't mean that others around you were sharing in your self-imposed state of cluelessness.
Who even knows if anything you said was true. If you really operate 3 businesses, then I will assume that you have a certain level of smarts, assuming of course that these 3 businesses you claim to operate are viable and generate revenue and you have a business plan in effect.
Can you think of any events prior to 2009 that may have had a direct impact on our economy and business enviornment?
INEPTOCRAT: ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers
Rick Santorum had a sick child when he announced his candidacy for president; this just did not suddenly happen. To politicans like him, their families are little more than stage props, standing around with their painted on smiles and sweater vests.
Sarah Palin taught him to do that. Drag out the stage props.." hey, we're just one big happy family.." Mom, God and apple pie, just don't ask us any questions, otherwise dad will accuse you of harrassing his family, but the show must go on.
Rick Santorum will make a boatload of cash on speaking tours and mittens will get the nod. This was all worked out months ago.
This person What a Deal! has used a vulgar and extremely crude words at Tawanda and that vulgar word is found on the post of Tuesday 7:04 pm in paragraph 4 line 1 and I am surprised the editors have not censored this as a TOS violation. When a person feels the need to stoop to this level, they have lost the arguement and the minds of people like myself. For the record, I am a senior citizen and a grandmother and not very political but I know what is right and what is wrong.
Tawanda has presented her/his positions in an intelligent and articulate fashion and this seems to infuriate you to the degree that you launch personal attacks against her/him. When you resort to that sort of behavior, you have lost.
You, What a Deal! have been disingenuous and misrepresented facts in order to boost your own standing. Did he/she ever state that he/she (Tawanda) worked for the Huff Post ? No. This person Tawanda has a profile which does not claim to work for the Huff Post but rather is a blogger. Why the need to mis-represent.
Possibly you have missed reading the posts that Tawanda made which were deleted. She's hardly a paragon of virtue.
For example, consider that she posted: "What an insufferable weenie and wusbag you are !" Does that meet your criteria for acceptable language and behavior?
Second, I don't know where you get the idea that anyone claimed that Tawanda works for HuffPo. She's a "super user," and that's all I see above.
Third, consider that she continually claims that I and other posters are the same person. That's plain false. Having multiple user IDs is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy here. Your cup runneth over with paranoia and projection. I thought Tawanda was alleged to be Sunny Pacalolo's sister or Shawn or Justice or "W" or Kveach or Steve or Erno Of The Brook or Concerned Teen or married to the KCDC guy (?)
Jim or whoever you logon as, it is perfectly OK to shut off your computer for a bit and clear out your head. You are sounding like a loon.Are you drooling yet?
And you are the wicked stepmother I presume? Maybe one of the dwarfs? I'm sure you'll feel the need to respond to this one, eh? LOL!
They are truly desperate, volatiel and grasping since they can only field emotional, anectdotal arguments...the term "arguments" is being used quite generously .....typical deflection tactics, so long as you cannot win the argument, do your best to change it....pitiful and sad.
Tawanda goes away and then all of a sudden.....lurkers......big surprise. Liberal buffoons with typical tactics. So sad. Jim gets 1000%, Tawanda and Associates.....-1000%. You guys all fall in the "dumb an dumber" category. To bad you weren't there for Tawanda when she was flailing, failing and falling. Now she goes away, loses arguments and integrity and the so called supporters suddenly come out of the woodwork. Tawanda should be ashamed. Someone hoots about the last word but you speel empty rhetoric hoping to be the last word.
