St. Al's/St. Pat's Hosts 'Festa Italiana' Fundraiser Saturday
The Lemont grade school will host local Italian restaurants, live entertainment and a cooking competition from 4 p.m. to midnight at Bottles.
St. Alphonus/St. Patrick School will host a new Italian-themed fundraiser Saturday in downtown Lemont.
"Festa Italiana" will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight at Bottles, 439 Talcott Ave., and will feature Italian fare from La Dolce Vita, Mama D's and Papa Joe's.
Live entertainment will be provided by Frank Sinatra crooners "Afterglow" at 7 p.m. and Bon Jovi cover band "Slippery When Wet" at 9 p.m.
The event will kick off with the "Godmother Throwdown Cooking Competition," a feast of Italian favorites prepared by more than 20 local family chefs.
The competition will be divided into four categories: "Nonna's Mangia Main Dish," "Godmother Meatball Throwdown," "Grazie Grazie Sunday Gravy" and "Holy Canoli Cousins' Desserts."
Entries will be judged by a panel of dignitaries from local parishes and the Lemont community, as well as Chef Ralph from La Dolce Vita in Lemont.
Tickets for the Festa Italiana cost $10 each, and are only available to individuals 21 and older.
The cooking competition is open to pre-sold ticket holders only. Tickets for the concerts and food booths will be available at the gate beginning at 6 p.m.
All proceeds will benefit programs at St. Al's/St. Pat's.

does not give a date.

Samuel, when we post stories and just include the day (in this case, Saturday), it means the event is the same week. So Saturday, Aug. 25. It's standard style for most news companies. We would only mention the date if the event was a few weeks away (i.e. Saturday, Sept. 1). Sorry for the confusion.

Isn't bottles a liqueur store?

Bob, good question. Bottles is a liquor store but they have a huge seating area as well. They also put on events in the Talcott Square parking lot a few times a year, i.e. Oktoberfest.

Hate to be a downer but don't you need a lic to do all that. Tom's place is a bar with a lic to serve. A store does not Have the same lic.
