The Lemont Police Department hopes to release a sketch in the coming days of the man accused of sexually assaulting a local woman in his vehicle Friday night.
Police are continuing to investigate the case, but as of Tuesday afternoon there were no new leads, said Lemont Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy.
However, the department has reached out to the Cook County Sheriff's Office to assist with creating a sketch of the suspect, which Shaughnessy hopes to release this week.
According to police, the victim was walking in the 1100 block of State Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. Friday when she was approached by a man in a vehicle. The man reportedly forced her into his vehicle and sexually assaulted her, according to a press release.
The man appeared to be unarmed, Shaughnessy said.
The woman described the offender as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7, with medium brown hair and stubble facial hair, police said.
The vehicle was described as a white SUV, according to the release.

Safety tips from Lemont police
The Lemont Police Department reminds women that when walking, especially after dark, to bring a friend and carry a charged cell phone.
When walking at night, stick to well-lit and well-trafficked areas. Avoid walking through parking lots, alleys, parks or other isolated areas. Stay in the center of the sidewalk, away from doorways or bushes or the roadway.
Walk with an air or purpose and keep alert to what is going on around you. Do not wear ear buds, which make it hard to hear someone’s approach. Never go near a vehicle being driven by someone you do not know, especially when alone.
Make sure you tell someone before you leave where you are going, the route you will take and when you will return.
