Old Quarry Swim Team Wins Conference Championship

The inaugural season of the Old Quarry Middle School swim team was capped with a win at the Southeast DuPage Elementary Athletic Association on Tuesday.

The swim team capped off its inaugural season with a conference championship Tuesday.

The Warriors had 47 swimmers in fifth through eighth grade participate in the Southeast DuPage Elementary Athletic Association championships, which were contested at Downers Grove South High School. The conference comprises 11 DuPage County middle schools.

Old Quarry coach Erik Enslen, who also coaches the Lemont Dolphins team at the , said he was proud of his team's strong finish, especially considering this was the program's first year.

"I am extremely proud of all of the accomplishments this season," he said. "Many of our swimmers have never competed on a swim team before."

  • Payton Craig, 25 backstroke and 50 backstroke
  • Owen Ganzer, 25 breaststroke
  • Bridget Doherty, 25 fly
  • Isaac Ziebell, 25 freestroke

Allison Zych, Leah Wood, Bridget Doherty and Sarah Ferriter won the girls medley relay.

The Warriors defeated Westview Hills, which has won the boys division the last four years and the girls division three of the last four years.
