Mindflow Café Closes

The business, which offered space for guests to think, create, work and have meetings, announced its closing on Friday.

Mindflow Café has closed its doors for the last time at its location 206 Main St. in downtown Lemont.

In a press release on Friday, Keith Nowakowski, achievement director, announce the closing.

“The Mindflow Group opened the Mindflow Café with the intent of providing a central hub for business professionals and creative thinkers to network, co-work and gain access to their success,” Nowakowski said. “Lemont is dynamic with amazing businesses, a creative community and a connected vibe. However, the demand for the Mindflow Café was not there at this time.

Run by MindFlow Group, a Lemont-based consulting firm, the café opened in July, billing itself as a place where guests could “think, create, work, have group meetings and meet new people.”

Nowakowski expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported the café since it opened  seven months ago.

“We still love the idea of a creative co-working space – perhaps it was an idea ahead of its time,” Nowakowski said. “Look for the Mindflow Café to pop up somewhere new.”

Nowakowski said the Mindflow Group "remains focused on serving the business community by offering marketing, consulting and development programs to help business leaders and organizations realize their potential and experience what is possible."

I hate to see any business close. Especially when the owners have put so much time, energy and money into trying to make the business succeed. The Mindflow owners didn't do their homework on this one. The only surprise regarding its closing is that it remained open as long as it did.

This statement isn't necessarily true. The business is not closing. The business is no longer offering space or food to the public. It is keeping everything private, which was the initial intent of the cafe. The public portion was opened to help build awareness and support the catering company that was part of the original business plan. The building is actually going to house more people daily than what the food portion of the cafe did.

It is indeed too bad. Also worth noting is that I saw a sign by the new Ace Hardware that a new cafe is being opened at the old Lindy Gerties site and another place called Betty's Bistro is being built a few doors down from Tap House. Permits have been pulled and a lot of activity at the Roth's steakhouse address too. I hope every one of the does well!

Just another casualty of Lemont.... I would be curious as to the particulars of the closing. Was there just not enough traffic inside or was it maybe a cost of rent and operating a space.

The business did not go out of business - the food cafe did not have enough foot traffic. This was an outsourced part of the cafe - the real meat and potatoes of the business was the consulting. That is thriving.

Fortunately that is not the case with this business. Its just not going to be open to the public. Bringing in more people to work out of the building coupled with one less food option should prove to be a plus for the other downtown businesses.

Reguarding the proposed sports complex a stone's throw from here.....
We need to put this project to referendum .....period . Let the taxpayers decide if it is worth the gamble. In my opinion the attendence required to be profitable is ridiculous...and if the quota is not met , the homeowners are left holding the bag for yet another loser downtown. A petition cannot be "placed" anywhere, ie the library, post office etc. It must be manned. I am willing to keep a copy in my office for anyone who would like to sign. Call me 630-243-9693 and stop by I am located very near the high school and feel this is important enough to put myself out there.

Yes indeed, I am friends with Janet , have been for years . She's a good person and opened a lot of eyes to the waste in the town. Just because we are friends does not mean we share the exact same views on everything.
Lemont Old Timer...What is pathetic is that YOU are without a doubt a current village trustee... I have absolute proof ! You need to grow a pair and post under your real name ! My phone number is still listed and I will be happy to show anyone who stops by to sign the petition EXACTLTY which one......curious?

It has been unfortunate to see another business close its doors in lemont. The concept of the cafe was different and progressive in thought. It's a shame the community did not support it.

The building is going to have 3x the number of people working out of it by closing the public part of the cafe than having it open. This is a positive situation. The footprint dedicated for food and the public did not make sense. Closing it brings more jobs into downtown Lemont than keeping it open.

That is great John. Good luck with the business. Feel free to post how the town can interact with Mindflow.

Mindflow Group will still occupy the 2nd floor and continue the business services that have a strong following such as Business Insights Groups and marketing services. We will also continue to introduce businesses owners to the downtown and Lemont area. As the downtown evolves we'll always be exploring the best use of the property.

I'm happy to read the comments from John R and Keith N that the business support end of the venture is thriving and will continue! It's been a great boon to Lemont, and they really give back to the community in generous ways, like the food and clothing give away they hosted during the Christmas season.

I guess this story has a happy ending after all. The original article on the Mindflow Cafe was misleading.

It makes a big difference. An elected trustee, posing as someone else attacking community members is a serious matter. I'm prepared to sign a petition to remove you/him from office. Very desperate, wouldn't you agree?

Well tickle me pink Jr/Todd/Lemont Old Timer/Paul, How did all the Lemont Old Timer comments change to Paul? The Paul name leads back to a litany of comments for Pancake Café. Who owns that restaurant? Isn’t he in charge of economic development? Economic ruin would be more accurate.

Hate, anger and distrust! Do you really think there is only 1 person in the village that disagrees with you? And they have to bulk up to four or five names to say some thing? Get hold of yourself man! There really may be 5 or 6 people with another view!

Interesting that when it was PROVEN that a village trustee was posting under a false name it magically disappeared...... Although when I am personally attacked ...it stays. Get a call for Village Hall did you?

So true Hank. I've been bullied, named-called and harrassed and those posts also remain. I guess the rules are different for village officials, you know the ones with so much "integrity".

So much hate and anger! Why are you so quick to jump to conspiracy theories? Every thing is against you, every one is some kind of threat. The village is up to some thing, the patch is up to something, the bloggers are up to something....

No hate , no anger....just experience ..."Todd" are you mentally unstable? I am simply asking for the people of Lemont to be able to make a choice in how $21,000,000 is spent ....What are you scared of? If it goes to vote then the people have spoken...it's very simple.

No you are not. You are accusing everyone you run into of being up to "something", whether its the village, the elected officials, the patch and its staff, the other bloggers. Every time you run into something that doesn't match your campaign of hate and anger it's some kind of conspiracy! One can't disagree with you without being mentally unstable?

If you are someone who wants to sign the petition and cannot come to me , I will happliy arrange to meet you....again Call me 630-243-9693.

What do you call "another one bites the dust " in relation to this business story? What do you call the repeated attacks on the elected officials you have been mounting for a few years? What about referencing collusion between the village and the Patch and staff? You don't like their terms of use so you insist that your own should be followed. Do you really think village hall called the patch as you have alleged here? These are all references to the anger, hostility and conspiracy you have injected into this conversation.
