Lemont Village Board Holds First Meeting in Renovated Village Hall
Village staff is scheduled to complete move back to Main Street location by Jan. 23.
“I can’t tell you how great it is to be back in this building,” said Lemont Mayor Brian Reaves Monday night as the village board held its first meeting at the newly renovated Village Hall at 418 Main St.
The approximately $2.2 million in renovations to the 120-year-old building included improvements to its lobby, roof, windows, exterior doors, bathrooms and conference rooms.
Since mid-summer, temporary village offices have been housed at the former Central School on McCarthy Road. And although the board room was ready for action Monday night, finishing touches are still being put on the rest of the building.Village Administrator Ben Wehmeier said staff will begin moving back into its new offices next week.
Villages offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 21 for Martin Luther King Day, open limited hours Tuesday, Jan. 22 during the move back to Village Hall – and fully operational in its “new” digs on Wednesday, Jan. 23, Wehmeier added.

I just wanted to say that I have lived in Lemont since 1986 and have had no problems in the past. However, we are now living in Covington Knolls and one of my neighbors continually parks her car in her driveway blocking the sidwalk. This is a small matter, but it is a violation of our parking ordinace. The police issued a warning but told me to complain to the Building Code authorities in the future. This same neighbor parks his RV in his driveway for days at a time, when the ordinance stayes he is allowed to prak it there for no more than 12 hours.
They are the only people in Covington Knolls that do this, but the police don't wish to bother enforcing the code. Why have any codes, if that's the case?
