Dozens of children took a turn on Santa's lap for a chance to share their Christmas lists with the Jolly Old Elf during Lemont's Hometown Holiday event. Santa took up residence temporarily at Sweetwater Deli Saturday from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

Lemont kicked off the holiday season in style Saturday night with its annual Hometown Holidays celebration.  The village’s historic downtown was all decked out for the season with decorated trees, twinkling lights and sparkling storefronts.

The popular event featured a variety of activities for the entire family – from horse-drawn carriage rides and carolers to ice sculpting, free hot chocolate and cookies – and, of course – the Jolly Old Elf himself, Santa Claus.
